Question OOTP 2006 - Saving A Game?

Wouldn't it be great if the OOTP 2006 version had a feature that
allowed you to SAVE A GAME, so you could come back to it later?

Why not 2006?

I would be in favor of this.

If you mean in-game, then good idea. If you mean not in game, then that's what Backups are.

FTR, my endorsement was for in-game, which I was pretty sure he meant.

In addition I finally hope we have the option to turn that damned auto save off.

Unhappy Saving A Game.....

Yes, I meant in-game...I'm curious why saving a game in progress won't
be an option for OOTP 2006. It's an option that many quality computer
games possess.

Is it so difficult to program into the new version?

That is too bad that it did not make it into the game - that is one feature that I have been hoping for.

My wife just hates it when I give her the good old "Just let me finish this game..." routine. I'm not sure if that makes me want in game saving more or less....probably less.

It is a great idea. There has to be some hard coding issue with it or Markus would have put it in by now.

I think the issue is probably that it would be time consuming to code. If it keeps getting requested I would bet that it gets in eventually, but right now I would guess that the demand for it isn't high enough to implement it considering the time it would take to code.

I suspect this is simply one of the items on the never-ending list of "things we'd like to see" that hasn't quite boiled up to the "OK, gotta do this now" level...

I would vote for this. With a young daughter that can get into all types of things, it would be able to be nice to stop and save the game when I have to chase after her, or when my wife decides it is time for us to go somewhere just as I have started a game.

Yep. I agree. Part of the reason I don't play out games in full is that reason. Though I guess you could always just leave the computer on.

I remember the old days on the Amiga with the Action Replay cart, and I've even seen it on some DOS PC titles, where you just hit a button, and it dumps the contents of ram to a file so you can load the save state up. (Kinda like how emulators work.)

Of course, I wonder if you could play inside something like VMWare, save the state, and come back to it later?

But these are all hacks. A real legit save feature mid game would be cool.

Same here - this would be a great feature to have.

I agree with the others. The only downside to this feature that I can see is that it would encourage sore losers, like yours truly, to save and replay games until I finally got a favorable outcome.

I thought this was already discussed and would not be included in this version. Am I wrong?
