Al Foreman in the TBCB Data Base
While going through the record of LHW Gib Jones whom I'm working on rating, I ran across that he fought an Al Foreman. There is an Al Foreman in the TB data base, BoxRec 047324. The dates for his career and that he was from the US jive with the file in the data base, but the data base lists him as a LW and his ratings do not match AT ALL the career of this Al Foreman the Jones fought this is BoxRec 047324.
There is in BoxRec though another Al Foreman, BoxRec 54824 who is from England who's career looks to match what the ratings are in the data base. This 54824 fought several times for the Commonwealth, British and Canadian Lightweight titles, so I'm pretting sure these ratings are for this Al Foreman and the bio info in this file is all wrong. Can someone else confirm this for me. Just looks like one of those Oops mixing up BoxRec files when the fighter was set up in the database. thanks Rocco |

Quote:
Of Jewish/Hebrew heritage Foreman began boxing in England in 1920, under the name of Bert (Kid) Harris. He moved to North America where he fought in Canada and the United States. He captured the Featherweight Championships of the Army, Navy and Marine Corps. According to the July 30, 1930 Montreal Herald, Foreman--at the beginning of his career--was credited with 61 knockouts, which reportedly was second only to Young Stribling. Was a long-time #1 and #2 contender for the Junior lightweight crown (late 1920s to late 1932), but never received a title shot, although he was the Canadian, British and British Empire Lightweight Champion. Featured on the cover of the September 1929 The Ring magazine
