I got an e-mail last night in OOTP4. It said that Matt Anderson broke his nose when he got knocked out in a bar fight. He's now day to day at 80%. Pretty hilarious, this ever happen to anybody else, I'd imagine this is pretty rare. On a side note, this is believed to be the way that Mark Fydrich's decline started...He was hitting on some dude's girl in a night club and was put in a chicken wing or similar wrestling maneuver and he was never the same.

This happened to Stan Javier in a 2002 league. He was a backup outfielder that had recently failed to learn third base in spring training.
My theory is that he was depressed due to his declining skills and role on the team. He must've gone down to D.U.I. Fridays to drown his sorrows and wound up in a tussle with the security guard. |

This is exactly what happened to former slugger Glenn Davis. He was in a batting slump, sent to the minors for work, then got his jaw broken by a barroom bouncer in my town here, Virginia Beach. He was never the same. He sued the bar and the bouncer and won a $1.6 million jury verdict. True story. I attended the trial.

I've run into this injury three times that I am aware of. Once, the player lost some teeth and was dtd for 3 days, the second time I lost someone for a week to a broken nose but the third is the best. Tight race for the wild card (1/2 game back) and my ace got beat up and missed the last week of the year. I lost the wild card by two games. If he had been around to pitch two games, who knows, could have possibly tied for it.

That happen to a Yankee prospect named Brian Taylor....He was going to be a huge pitcher, and he either broke his hand or cut it really bad(I think broke it), and his career never went anywhere....What a shame...Alot of people's careers get ruined by injuries not even related to their sports....
Does anyone know where I can find a web page of injuries that weren't sustained on the field, or wierd injuries? |
