Why is this happening?

I've been playing OOTPBB for years now and never noticed this or really even tried checking this out. I set all teams to computer managers except for the one I play. While I was checking out the NYY roster and lineups I noticed I could press the "offer extenions" button and actually screw around with this even to the point of having the player get mad and say he's not going to sign with them for the future. Then I also noticed I could muck around with the lineups and team strategies and really anything on the team I wanted to mess with. Why is it this way? Shouldn't all things become locked when it is computer controlled/managed?? Or is this a new feature to allow the player to actually make the AI teams more viable and challenging? (though an evil person like me could screw them silly lol)

BTW I'm now using 6.51a expansion.

I believe it's always been this way. Though if you play with Manager Mode, that option is turned off with all but the team you run.

Its only when you start up Manager Mode and get signed by a team that you are 'locked out' and restricted from manipulating rosters on other teams.

By the same token, a human-controlled team can still make unauthorized trades made if you sim through the games. I learned that the hard way in previous versions that did not have manage mode (ie. Season Ticket Baseball)

Edit - Raderick beat me to it.

Ahhh that's why I didn't notice it before I usually am playing manager mode and this was the first time playing 6.5 so I hadn't selected that option yet. Thanks. Back to manager mode for me.
