OLN to air fights in July

Just read on ESPN's site that OLN will start showing boxing this summer & they'll pay $250K per card - as opposed to the $50K ESPN2 currently pays.

This is great news! Boy, for a sport that some people love to say is on the ropes & dying, it sure seems to be doing well for HBO, Showtime, PPV, ESPN & now OLN. These people don't show all these fights to lose money.

Read about this too supposively they have Arum(?) in the bag with them and he has an extensive collection of old fights that they will also air. Sounds like we are a step or two closer to a boxing network

That is great news. Hopefully the boxing network will be around the corner. Even if it is a monthly fee, i'll definitely get it.

Fox Sports Net (FSN) airs a lot of boxing as well, as does my local Comcast Sports channel (CN8).

OLN is making a huge push from being a "fishing and hunting" channel to an all sports, ESPN competitor. They are paying a lot to get all sports on their network. They started with NHL this season. I haven't really been following their progress (OLN's), but getting a regular boxing show or two like ESPN will be another step in the right direction.

Perhaps paying more per card will get some world title fights (from the lower and less prestigious weight classes, obviously). That would help a TON.

Right sabotai, I forgot about FSN & they do have some good cards too. They love to show James Toney & have seen Sam Soliman on there a # of times too.

I first started watching OLN last summer when they covered Lance Armstrong going for another Tour de France.

I agree, hope they get some title fights on there. Sounds like a good summer!

yea thats great news add in the fact don king almost got a cable network or his own chan comin by the beginin of 07 its beginign to look alkot like the 80's
