Any interest in a hybrid league?
I created a hybrid league. It's a bit...unusual. I wanted to have a 36-team, six-division league with real historical teams in it. And I wanted it to be able to move it forward from the eighties to the present. So I took Cowboys3356's 1987 and Beyond League, and added teams to it. I gave the expansion teams nice logos, stadiums, minor league teams, and managers (former players/managers). Some of the expansion teams are teams that actually were future expansion teams (Devil Rays, Rockies, etc.), and some are new. I used Skydog's settings, and I filled the expansion teams with minor leaguers to stock them with players. The result is...well, different and I am enjoying it. Anyway, I was PMing with Doc (Cowboy3386) about it, and he suggested that I post it and make it available to everyone. I was taken a bit aback at this, so I am asking you guys: is there really any interest in such a hybrid league?

Personally I'm always interested in different leagues rather than just the usuall MLB roster files, don't know if somebody as already done so but I'd love to see a japanese league or roster file.

I didn't think that there would be any interest in this league to speak of.
As to the Japanese roster set, if you follow the name link in my .sig you'll find something interesting there that Fidel Montoya put together.

Here's an interesting data point.
In a league made up of 1987 teams and some Skydog-setting-"fill-all-minor-leagues"-generated expansion teams, one of the AL expansion teams managed to have a .500 first season. That was a shocker.

I would be interested in getting a copy of the league. It sounds very interesting. I like historical/fictional leagues. It is a new mix on the history of the time. It keeps history interesting to have new twists.

In that case, Joe, I will package it up tomorrow and post it somewhere.
Doc thought there would be people who liked the idea. It turned out that there was at least one!

Actually, i'd like to get a look at this league, also. Sounds interesting. And it'll give me something to do until Spring.
(On an off note, i'm surprised someone hasn't figured how to get a countdown clock into their signature.)
