Kerry Wood going under the knife... again

Just reported on WSCR 670 in Chicago. Kerry Wood will now be getting knee surgery.

I don't have any links at the moment, but I'm sure there'll be one soon. I swear I think the Cubs just get bored and feel like they have to cut him open every few months. Maybe now he gets a free sandwich for filling up a surgery card. They'd probably still make him buy a 21 oz. Coke.

Yeah I was about to make some crack about being mad at sublimity for bumping old threads...

How long until Wood and/or Prior are in the 'pen.

Sounds like Kerry "Ashes" Wood.

Now would be a good time for those Tejada-for-aCubspitcher rumors to start swirling again.

No. Balsa wood is one of the strongest woods for its weight out there (believe me, I know, I used to compete in geeky/dorky competitions where we would stack Austrian bodybuilder-esque amounts of weight on 18g structures made of balsa).

Calling Wood balsa is like calling Colon empty.

It's an insult to the player's real-world counterpart.

How about tulip poplar? Grows fast, breaks easy, sometimes called tulip toppler.

ESPN 1000 in Chicago just reported that Wood's knee surgery is considered "minor", and somethign about a torn minicus (sp?). he should be throwing long toss a week after the surgery.

granted i dont trust them when they say "minor" but i figured id update the thread.

I think recent history has taught us that when the Cubs say something is minor and not a big deal we should expect the player to be out 3-4 months.

Dr. Sebastian says that a torn meniscus is no big deal unless there is scar tissue or unless it becomes infected.

Guess Dusty's holy water experiment last year didn't do too well either.
