Hob2 - The Hall Of Fame
This thread will contain the Hall of Fame results and inductees each season.
1936 HALL OF FAME INDUCTS 5 The HOB2 Hall of Fame officially announced the induction of it's first 5 players. "Each of these players are legends," said HOB2 Commissioner Tiger Fan, "and each deserves his place in the Hall." "I don't believe there is a baseball fan alive that will dispute these choices. The voting committee did an excellent job in deciding who the first 5 should be." The 5 players inducted include: BABE RUTH : 1914-35 Browns, Indians, Yankees. The all-time homerun king and arguably the greatest player in the history of baseball will enter the hall wearing an Indians cap. Ruth spent 10 years in Cleveland and enjoyed his most productive seasons there, including 1930 when he hit a record 61 homers. TY COBB : 1905-26 Tigers, White Sox, Dodgers. Cobb had a tough decision as he had great years in both Chicago and Brooklyn but in the end decide he would enter the hall as a Chicago White Sox. NAP LAJOIE : 1896-1914 Athletics, Tigers. 5 of his 7 MVP awards came with the Tigers so it is no surprise Lajoie elects to go in as a Detroit Tiger RUBE MARQUARD : 1908-26 Cardinals, Phillies. No pitcher won more games in the 1900's than Marquard. He enjoyed some good years in St Louis but his 4 straight Markle Awards and 9 of his 11 straight 20 win seasons came in Philadelphia. He enters the Hall as a Phillie. JAKE BOULTES : 1907-27 White Sox, Dodgers. A key cog in the Dodgers string of 7 pennants in 11 years. Boultes will wear a Brooklyn cap in Cooperstown. Here are the final 1935 Hall of Fame voting results.
All players not elected in 1935 will remain on the ballot for 1936 plus we will add any new additions that retire during the 1936 season. The requirements for 1936 will be that a player must appear on 75% of the ballots cast in order to be elected. Each voter will be allowed to nominate up to 5 players but can nominate as few as 1.

1937-38 voting
HORNSBY, DELAHANTY LATEST HALL OF FAMERS The HOB2 Hall of Fame membership has swelled to 7 with the induction of Rogers Hornsby and Ed Delahanty. The two newcomers join Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Rube Marquard, Jake Boultes and Nap Lajoie, all of whom were elected in the inagural vote following the 1935 season. To make it to Cooperstown a player must appear on 75% of the ballots. This season 23 ballots were cast meaning a player would have to appear on 18 of them to be inducted. Hornsby was the only unanimous choice with Delahanty appearing on all but one ballot. Cy Young finished 4 votes shy and fellow turn of the century hurler Kid Nichols missed election by 5 votes. Bob Meusel was the only other player to garner double digit vote totals but the first time nominee was named on just under half the ballots. Hornsby, who won 3 MVP awards, a World Series MVP and a rookie of the year award, is third all-time with 3560 hits. The second baseman, who played for the Braves, Washington and Pittsburgh, ranks in the top 10 in career rbi's, runs and doubles. Hornsby played 13 of his 21 HOB2 seasons with Boston so he will enter the Hall as a Brave. Delahanty is the HOB2's alltime hit leader with 3792. The 9 time allstar played for the Phillies, Cardinals and White Sox and was NL MVP in 1902. Delahanty will enter the Hall in a Phillies cap despite only playing 2 post-1900 seasons in Philadelphia. "The greatest years of my career were in Philadelphia including our pennant winning 1901 season. I am a Phillie at heart," explained Delahanty. Delahanty joins Rube Marquard as Phillies in the Hall, making them the first club with 2 Hall of Famers. Here are the complete results:
There will be no Hall of Fame ballot this season as we work towards getting players retired 5 years before becoming eligible. There will be a vote prior to the 1939 season for those retired following the 1937 season or earlier. The Hall of Fame schedule is as follows: 1938 No vote 1939 vote players who retired prior to 1938 1940 no vote 1941 players retired prior to 1939 1942 no vote 1943 players retired prior to 1940 1944 no vote 1945 players retired prior to 1941 1946 players retired prior to 1942 and so on.
