Favorite Sports Teams Kansas City/St Louis

Same here just see what team everybody likes from each state/major city and after we have a winner from each put them in tournament to find our favorite sports team of the 4 major sports

hockey
baseball
Football
basketball

you dont have to have a reason why you pick a certain team

you can be a fan of them
you can like their uniforms
you can like a certain player....etc

Next is Kansas City/St Louis only 5 options (No basketball) here poll will end tomorrow

Chiefs edge the Cards simply because Larry Johnson carried me last fantasy season.

Wow, I thought this would be a landslide for the Cards. How can the Royals possibly be tied them?

Hmm.....George Brett, Bret Saberhagen, Dan Quisenberry, Hal McRae, Frank White, Amos Otis, Mike Sweeney, Willie Wilson, Carlos Beltran, Dennis Leonard, Paul Splittorff, Jeff Montgomery, Mark Gubicza, Tom Gordon, Steve Busby, Bud Black, Kevin Appier.

Since 1969, the Royals have 1 World Series title, 2 pennants, and seven playoff appearances. I wonder what the Cards record is since then?

1 World Series, 4 pennants, 9 playoff appearances, 25 winning seasons (KC has had 18 winning seasons).

Never said it was...you seemed to want to imply that KC has had the better history since '69.

The Royals don't have so much as a playoff appearance in 20 years. The Cards have 7 in that span.

Nope, you seemed to want to be offended.

I asked for a comparison because I was pretty sure the World Series titles during that span were equal and I suspected the other postseason accomplishments would be similar. Thus, it would be little surprise that KC would have a comparable fanbase despite their present awfulness.

I'm pretty sure you had to look up the Royals numbers and I think you could have found the Cardinal numbers without having to ask. I wasn't offended or looking to be offended, it was just a little strange that you looked up the KC numbers and then asked for the St. Louis numbers.

Damn, this poll didn't stay open very long. Put me down as a Cardinals vote, though. As if anyone had to guess.

My only question is why stop at 1969?

If you can send me a link to the Kansas City Royals MLB record of achievement prior to 1969, I would gladly reconfigure the numbers.

The Royals didn't play before '69

My problem is I love Cards, Royals, and Chiefs almost the same... The Rams I can take or leave.. lived in Missouri for 6 years or so, and I travelled to St Louis and KC a lot to see games. Never been to a Chiefs game, they were always sold out.

Ok, smart***. That's not what I meant. I mean, why cut out a large portion of the Cardinals history just to suit the best interests of the Royals case? The fact is that the Cardinals have been around _far_ longer, have a larger base in the Mizzou area because of that and they're the second most successful franchise in the history of the game. Only trailing the Yankees.

Those _are_ factors you have to consider when comparing the two teams fan base. Dicing up the Cardinals legacy because the Royals haven't been around as long is just silly if you ask me.

And calling someone smart*** isn't going to fly in Talk Sports either.. Tighter rules than Off Topic, so please refrain from not showing respect to other's opinions even if they aren't your own, thanks.

If you can't show respect, then please don't post. This is not Off Topic.

Dicing up the Cards legacy? I highly doubt darkhorse would be accused of being less than up front in his opinion of what is a great franchise. But the same franchise also has trouble winning the big games, and the big prize over the last few times they have had a shot at it.

St Louis fans are very patient, but, they should have won a few of those playoffs and championship contests IMO, and I have been a fan for longer than most people have been alive on these forums.

You think it is time for new bench leadership in Old St Louie? Or should they stay with what they have?

I don't think so. Tony can't do much about Rolen going completely cold in the WS or having to try to beat three aces when he only has one.

The only series where I think he deserves much blame is when he threw Stottlemyre on 3 days rest when they were up 3 to 1 in '96.

The poll asked who was your favorite, not who was better. I was born and raised in KC, why would I vote for St. Louis?
