I really thought they made this illegal last offseason after the Celtics traded Gary Payton, the Hawks cut him, and the Celtics resigned him. I know someone else remembered something like that as well. What happened to that rule?

Actually a pretty good question. I was surprised to see this, and wondered why there wasn't some kind of clause stopping this.
