Player service years -- full or partial?

I'm very interested to see how OOTPBM06 will handle player service years.

In OOTP5, if you bring up a player he can have one at-bat and use an entire year of service toward his six-year period before free agency.

I'm wondering how this will be handled in OOTPBM.

What I'd like is that each player would need to reach a certain number of at-bats or plate appearances or something (according to MLB rules) to use a full year of service time.

I know in MLB a player can only play a little bit and not have it counted toward his six years before free agency.

Having blathered all that -- and assuming this feature will be in OOTPBM06 -- what will be the statistical requirement a player must reach to earn a full year of service?

By the way, I'm thrilled to have discovered this board.

In OOTP6, you can determine how many service days are required to make one service year. That means that if a guy plays 6 games one year and 45 the next, he still doesn't have one year of service time.

Thanks for taking the time to explain that to someone who clearly hasn't played OOTP6. By the time I found out that it was released, people were already talking about OOTPBM, so I figured I'd just wait. Besides, OOTP5 is awesome enough ... for now.

No problem.

While it addresses the problem of players with one AB getting a full year of service time, it creates another one, as teams can take a player off the lineup for a few days in their first year, and that way get an extra year at minimum salary instead of free agency.

Don't you mean send them to the minors? They still accumulate service time if they are on the 25-man roster no matter the role.

Also, a lot of major league teams manipulate their promotion of prospects to get that extra year at minimum salary so I like that OOTP can mimic that.

I think if OOTP5 was awesome for you, the next installment will blow you away. Even OOTP6.5 is so advanced over OOTP5 it seems.

Welcome aboard G-Ballz. I just want to echo what Erik just said. The next game should totally blow the others out of the water.

Uh, yeah, I meant roster, not lineup. Thanks.
