Import from OOTP3 to OOTP4

I just imported my fictional league from 3 to 4. I remember reading that there is a problem with importing the financials. It looks like broadcast revenue is off. Is there anything else that needs adjusted.

I think in 3, the broadcast revenue increased through the year. Is that not the case in 4? Do I just set it to whatever it was at the end of last year in 3?

depends, did you convert before or after hitting the proceed to next season button?

Before. I've still got my backup out there if I should do something different.

You are correct. In v4, broadcast revenue is split into 2 parts. One is the local broadcast contract and the other is national. You'll need to edit these numbers so that, combined, they equal your old broadcast revenue if you want the financials to be roughly the same. Another thing that may change for you in OOTP4 is that teams will have more attendance revenue. This is due to the average ticket price raising to $10 instead of $7. If a team averages 35,000 in attendance per game, this will result in an $8.5 million increase in attendance revenue ($3 x 35,000 x 81 home games). So, depending on your plans, you may want to adjust other revenue numbers to offset this.

well there's less work to do when you convert before you hit the button like you did.

*proceed to next season in v4
*proceed to next season in v3 (to get figures to use editing v4)
*edit the broadcasting revenue for prior year for each team using v3's figures
*edit the cash figure for the current year to match v3's

*you may want to edit the tv contracts - i suggest setting one national contract for all teams (same years, same amount) and then setting the local contract to help match last year's broadcast revenue. for example if cleveland had $36M in broadcast revenue last year, set the national for all teams to $20M and cleveland's local tv contract to $16M.

I think it's far messier than that. IMO, there are some major bugs in the transfer. For a (very long) explanation of how I handled it all for my online league:

obaslg -

we did a similar thing except we used the local tv contract to make up the difference in attendance revenue - we did this because we can control that figure for as long as we want - i'm afraid that if we use merchandising revenue to offset attendance revenue, it will go back up the next year and you'll have the same problem each year.

the real kicker is that once you edit all these numbers, the money that each team has for free agency is WRONG. the formula for calculating that is last year's income (minus playoff revenue)+ CASH - this year's payroll. When i go to each team's FA spending screen (within FA itself), the components listed are correct however the money available for spending is wrong - the game is not using those figures to compute spending money. it looks like it's using the pre-edited figures.

Just to pass on to you that I sent Markus a link to this thread and the other thread(on the league message board) so that hopefully this issue can get fixed completely in the update.

Thanks, Steve. I know y'all are aware of the issue. At this point, it's probably not an issue for too many (since most who are going to switch already have), so I would vote that update time be spent on other issues. In the future, Markus should probably refrain from changing the ticket price scale, which is what throws it all off.

Go Tribe: That's a little disappointing to hear, since we ran our FA long ago - d'oh!

Is this pretty likely? If so I can wait and just to my import again after the patch. I'll be ticked, though, if I lose some of the FA's I signed!!

Mine's just a solo league, and I'm only going into my second year since I play every game. What are the ramifications if I just leave it the way it imported?

If I just leave it the way it converted, what problems will that cause? This is a solo league, and I'm just going into year two.
