By the way, this will be the final Metro Leagues update using OOTP6.51a. I plan to move the league to the new platform when it is released and continue. However, I might start the league over if there is a disconnect in stats when I try an import. Also have to see what the new HTML pages will offer. We'll see.
I'm certainly looking forward to the new version of OOTP as it will allow me to create a baseball universe more to my liking. Looking forward to things such as... -Managers and GM's with personalities and individual strategies. -Common man salaries for players. -Real independent leagues that supply the Metros with players. -Editable play-by-play and news stories. Until then. Last edited by DreamTeams; 02-15-2006 at 06:07 PM. |

Can't wait to see what you do with the Metro Leagues DT. Always a pleasure to read about the leagues exploits. Your League was the one that lead to my writing diaries of my own games (admittedly almost all Title Bout these days) and I always take time to read your updates.
BTW it was sad to see Jasper Getz retire this year, a great career. Cheers, Mark |

Thanks, Mark.
I'm happy that the Metro Leagues continue to inspire the imagination of others. It has been a joy to continue this solo league project for so long. I'm currently considering various new concepts for the league structure that the new OOTP'06 platform might allow. I see ways to structure the league that will move it further into the realm of becoming it's own entity. Here's one league structure concept I'm considering... A single league of 12-16 teams. The top four finishers make the playoffs. I know this breaks out of the pure major league classic structure, but other classic leagues (PCL, etc.) had a similar structure. There are several additional things I love about this structure... -More teams make the post season, but they slug it out in a single league structure, first. Very interesting. -Only one MVP, King Hurler and Mr Rookie selected each year, instead of two as it is now in the Metros and the real majors. -Another interesting scenario is that any team can meet any team in the championship series because of the single league structure and playoff seedings. Very exciting prospects here. -Not sure how an All-Star game would fit into this structure. I love All-Star games in sports sims because the teams really go at it and compete to win, unlike in real life. Does OOTP'06 even select an all-star team in single league structures? Perhaps I'd nix the the All-Star game and just name an All-Metro team. It would be great if OOTP'06 did this automatically. Perhaps it does. Anyway, these are just random thoughts I'm sharing, as I really love the classic structure of the current Metro Leagues and may not make these structural changes at all. If I did make a major structural change, like this, I'd start the league all over. It's quite tempting since OOTP'06 makes it's possible. Last edited by DreamTeams; 02-17-2006 at 02:02 AM. |

Spent most of last night slightly updating team uniforms. They turned out quite nice. A little cleaner and more vibrant. I've always wanted the Knickerbockers to be the only Metros club allowed to sport pinstripes and so now they are.
When you get a chance check it out. |
