Help the Shiba League Elect Its Hall of Fame Class for 1971
The Shiba League, an historical league which started in 1947, is currently electing its Hall of Fame class for 1971. I've decided that it might be fun to let the public have some say in the outcome.
The detailed rules for the HOF voting are here, but in a nutshell, here's how it works: * We come up with a list of deserving nominees. * In even years (e.g., 1970) we elect one player, while in odd years we elect two. * Players who wind up at the bottom of the nominee list are replaced by new nominees in subsequent seasons. This is loosely based on the Hall of Merit at baseballthinkfactory.org The voting process has two steps: 1. Download the Excel file showing some of the career stats for each player (get it here). The file includes a link to each player's Catobase page if you'd like to dig into his stats more deeply. Use this file to rank the players from most-deserving to least-deserving. This will serve as your cheat sheet for the actual ballot. 2. Fill out the ballot, which you can access here. I'll weight the aggregated public rankings 1/3 and the existing league owners' rankings 2/3 when calculating the final outcome. If I get a significant amount of interest in this, I'll increase the public rankings for next year's nominee class. Thanks for taking the time to read this and happy voting!
