It all comes down to next week.
Houston.
San Francisco. 3 wins apiece. Reggie Bush. Who wants it worse?

The NFL wants SF. My guess is it will be SF.
Houston has bigger problems and will probably trade the pick anyway.

What'll be interesting is if SF gets the #2 pick will they take Leinart even though they took Smith last year as QB. My thoughts are that they almost have to. I really thought Matt would come out last year, given the chance to stay in Cali. |

With the Jets and Packers leading right now we just need to get the Saints (who are only down a TD) into the mix. Everyone root for the Saints.
If this stays the same and those two win and the Saints lose and the Texans beat the Niners then I think the top 3 picks will look like this. Saints Niners Texans The Saints need to win. C'mon TB your good for a big time choke job down the stretch.

Well it looks like the Niners will pick #2. I'm kinda pissed CBS didn't area the game locally here. I had CIN@KC for my CBS game.

Actually, I think the way it looks is that if SF ends up losing to HOU (as they are now), it'll end up being:
1. New Orleans 2. Houston 3. San Francisco Due to all having 3-13 records, but SF having the "toughest" schedule. New Orleans will have the lowest Opponents Win% and thus pick first. There is basically zero chance SF gets Reggie Bush.

That's the kinda of reasoning the ranks an NCAA team behind a team they beat.

In which case, I STILL think that SF should be 2 and NO should be 1, because when HOU beats SF, they should be given a lower pick... so IMO, it SHOULD be 1. New Orleans 2. SF 3. Houston Since Houston beats SF head to head.

Even in that case, wouldn't the Saints take Bush?

Unless they take Leinart because they have Deuce (didn't he get injured though?)
IMO, BEST CASE Scenario for SF to get Bush (assuming 3rd pick) is that both NO and HOU pass on him, since they both have serviceable backs. NO would take Leinart, and HOU would take the OL Ferguson, leaving Bush 3rd. A more likely situation is somebody like the Jets trades up to get Bush #1.

Bush will go first whoever picks, the pick will either be traded or Bush will be selected and then later traded. Houston needs playmakers just like SF does. Dominique Davis is a good back but he is no where near the skill or talent level of a Reggie Bush. I would also disagree that McAllister is only a "servicable" back. Hes an elite back if he can stay healthy. The Saints need a QB though more than anything, I suspect that if they get the number 1 pick they will trade down and take Lienart. The only way I can see the Texans take anyone else at number one is if MAYBE Vince Young comes out this year. Still Unlikely. If the Texans arent drafting first I think they will trade down as well and take either Ferguson or AJ Hawk. |

Vince Young declaring would help the Niners chance of getting Bush considerably.
Even though he's not that good, everybody seems to love the Michael Vick types. I would love to see Reggie Bush in the backfield with Frank Gore, and reunited with Alex Smith from high school as well. I don't see it happening though.

Im not sold totally on Vince Young and am not certain David Carr cant still be the guy in Houston. I throw out Vince Young only because hes from Houston and would probably be the only guy the fans would accept over Bush. Its hard to get excited about an offensive tackle.

Let Bush go to the NFC. That conference is lame.
