<--- Orioles fan.

No. Zambrano or bust. In fact, I'd really play hard ball and try pushing for a rumored three way deal that involved Prior/Zambrano and Barry Zito to Baltimore.

(Yes, I know that's all speculation. But I really believe Tejada is the biggest trade piece out there -- bigger than Manny Ramirez.)

Yes, but not for Zambrano. The Cubs want tejada and would give up Hill, Pie, and Prior for him, but not Zambrano.

Hendry wants to win it all now, seeing as what the other team did.

(you know which one...)

I know what the Cubs want. I'm just saying that Orioles management needs to understand that they've got the bargaining chip in Tejada. If they can't trade him, so what? He'll still be in uniform for the next four seasons. So don't settle. If they want Zambrano, make the Cubs give up Zambrano to get him. Otherwise, stand and wait for something better.

I think its an awful trade for Tejada even if they only gave up Prior.Pror is really an awesome pitcher even if he has strugglede to stay healthy. And all of us Cub fans know what happens when we trade away a good player-they turn into 5 year all stars with HOF credentials.IE Palmeiro,Lee Smith,Glanville,I think even Gary Matthews Jr is making a name for himself.I could go on and on.The fact is if Prior is healthy he is a Cy Young candidate, and with how much they suffer with pitching injuries they need to keep as much depth there as possible.Tejada's good but I highly question why they need another power hitter, they should be doing there best to find either a OF who can leadoff,or find a key guy in the pen,the 2 relievers they signed just dont seem like a good answer considering their age and having above career average performances last year.No trade for Tejada, unless its for Neifi,Patterson, and a prospect, which of course Baltimore wouldnt accept.

Not a good trade for the Cubs imo. A healthy Prior (and I sense there's one in there) is one of the top starters in the league. Tejada is an above-average shortstop. Orioles would be very lucky if the Cubs were so stupid.

"Above-average"? Who would you rather have playing shortstop for you?

I'm not sure how good a hitter Spiderman would be. Would his spider-sense let him know what pitch was coming, do you think?

What he would lack in hitting, he would gain in Range, what with his spidey web and all.

I would do this trade if I were the Cubs.

The only way I would do it if I was Baltimore would be for Zambrano.

Tejada is currently the best shortstop in baseball.

Yeah, Prior's value isn't the same as it used to be. It's quite ironic that people used to say how well his mechanics are and would make him less prone to injuries.

It might just be the opposite.

No, Prior is as good as it gets when healthy and a pitcher is better to have than a hitter.

A hitter is better to have than a pitcher generally. Hitters are more consistent and less prone to injuries.

Also what supports the belief Prior would remain healthy? I don't think people really know how to predict pitcher health yet.

I said that wrong. What I mean is that there are more quality hitters than ace pitchers. With teams like Toronto and Los Angeles, and others shelling out a ton of money to guys like AJ Burnett and Derek Lowe, why get rid of an ace quality pitcher like Mark Prior who is young (24) and cheap compared to players of his value. Tejeda is a great player, but you cannot win without great pitching, and IF Chicago can get a year with a healthy Zambrano, Prior, Wood then it will not matter who they have hitting, they will be a World Series contender.

I know it's a big risk, because of Prior's injury history, but I would not make the trade if I was the Cubs. Maybe it would be the wrong decision, but I'm not ready to give up on Prior.

As for the Orioles, I would probably do the trade. Its easier to find a free agent hitter than a free agent pitcher, and with the quality of hitters in the AL East, they need pitching to compete.

Having a baby changes a lot of things.

Good to see you back!
