Week 16 Schedule

Atlanta @ Tampa Bay - Both teams got pwnd nicely this week, but I don't think Atlanta will be able to win this one.

Dallas @ Carolina - Carolina wins this. Carolina clinches.

NY Giants @ Washington - This is going to be a great game. The Redskins got whupped at NY, but it will be a little closer in Washington with them being a little hotter at the moment. I say NY still wins this one though. NY Clinches.

Minnesota @ Baltimore - Minnesota needs to win this one to stay in the race, and they do win a close one.

Bears @ Packers - Jeez. This one is a toss-up in my eyes, but the Bears will likely win it. Bears clinch here.

With this, the Wild Card looks like this:

1. Tampa Bay 10-5 (clinch)
2. Vikings 9-6
3. Redskins 8-7
4. Dallas 8-7
5. Atlanta 8-7

I'll do next weeks predictions next week after I failed on all these picks here.

Hopefully the Redskins can pull it out this week. That would be ACES!!! It will be good to see them make it again, hopefully!

Colts vs Redskins in the Super Bowl. It can happen!

I think it's cute that you have a thread about the 2nd place conference.

Vikings need to win and the Bears lose, and the week 17 game will be for the NFC North Title. How cool is that?

Or would you rather have my scenario above where the Vikings would play a Bears team that doesn't need to win to get into the playoffs in Week 17. I like our chances against the Bears team that needs a win to get in too, but I dunno.

I know this Vikings team won't do much damage in the playoffs, but I'd rather play the Bears in the second round than the Giants or Carolina.

So the Seahawks have now allowed the third fewest points in the NFC and have scored 35 more points than any other NFC team. They also will have home field advantage. Are they the favorites yet?

They gotta be the favorite out of the NFC and I'm not sure they can't/won't win it all.

Oh, i see, you're from Wisconsin. Only a cheeze head would be so blinded by the fact that the Pack has no attack and will be exposed vs the Bears defense once again. And with Sexy Rexy running the offense, the bears should put up 30+

With Grossman as the starting QB, the Bears just potentially became the toughest team in the NFC to prepare for as NO team has any film on Rex Grossman. Sure, there's some film from 2004 and 2003, but those are all under DIFFERENT offensive coordinators. The defense is the best in the league, the special teams are seeing vast improvement and the offense may have finally fixed the loose bolt that has had it clanking since opening day.

a) Grossman isn't all that good.
b) Let's see if he can stay healthy...his track record there is less than fresh
c) You are a rabid Bears fan so calling someone out for being a fanboy is kind of funny

Atlanta @ Tampa Bay - Tampa Bay all the way. Atlanta's playoff hopes die here. Tampa clinches a spot

Dallas @ Carolina - Carolina. Dallas was shown up last week and Carolina will do it again.

NY Giants @ Washington - Washington. They just look too good vs Dallas and the Giants can't kick a fieldgoal.

Minnesota @ Baltimore - Minnesota.

Bears @ Packers - Bears - Clinch the north

Seattle vs. Indy - Indy has something to prove and they don't want to lose again. They're going to jump out to an early lead and coast the 2nd half with reserves in. They will expose Seattle for what they are - weak. Lets see, they have beat SF, Ari, and STL 2x each (with a combined 11 wins between the 3 teams, that's no big feat). They beat a 4 win Tennessee team - BARELY. A T.O and McNabb-less Philly team. They should not have won against the Giants, but they did. In summation, the Hawks are a joke and have played nobody. They're getting beaten this week and will play ONE post-season game. They will probably beat GB next week to clinch home field, but it will just be for one game.

With this, the Wild Card looks like this:

1. Seattle
2. Chicago - control own destiny for week 1 bye
3. Carolina - can only get a bye if they win in week 17 and Chi loses as Chi holds tie breaker.
4. Giants/Skins - Tie breaker will be decided in Week 17 as when Wash beats PHilly they get the tiebreaker
-------
5. Tampa Bay 10-5 (clinch)
6. Redskins/Giants 9-6
7. Vikings 9-6
8. Dallas 8-7 (needs alot of help)
9. Atlanta 8-7 (eliminated)

Bears have proven that they can win with a QB rated #30 in the NFL. Grossman is an improvement on that - without question. ANd he is that good.

Torn ACL can happen to anyone - a fluke broken foot. Simply bad luck. They are not injuries that 'linger' or are a sign of weakness, simply bad luck.

but I'm not unrealistic. I'm not saying one of the weakest teams in the NFL are going to beat one of the best. Now if I said that the Bears were going to walk all over the Colts, you can say I'm just being bias, but to say that the Pack-Bears matchup is a "tossup" is foolish.

The Hawks are a joke? They are 11-2! The 49ers are a joke. The Texans are a joke. The Seahawks are a good team that has played a weak schedule but has managed to beat all those crappy teams (and some good ones too like the Giants, Falcons and Cowboys). Calling them a joke is a joke.

They are at-best greatly overrated. Its the same weak team from last season with the same big holes that went 9-7 who benefits from one of the weakest schedules in pro football.

And I guess our definition of a joke is different - I am referring to a team that looks like they should be good based on a few stats (a 11 win record and a record setting HB) but in reality have benefited GREATLY from a weak schedule or other arbritrary matters in order to make their players/fans/media think there is something there that there is not.

This is just ignorant. It is not even close to the same team as last season. They revamped their linebacking group, greatly improved their defensive line and also overhauled their receiving core. Again, yes, they've played a weak schedule, but there are so many bad teams this year that most everyone has played a weak schedule. The Colts have played a weak schedule yet they are considered the prohibitive favorite to win the Super Bowl. I'm not saying the Seahawks are a great team or even that they are going to make the Super Bowl, but refering to them as a joke is ridiculous. If anything, I think they are underrated because so many people are so willing to find reasons to knock them down even though they are the most obvious choice as the best in the NFC.

If Dr. Phesta's argument was about the Jags, I'd buy it. Seahawks are a legitimate playoff team, however.

I would tend to agree with that. While I certainly don't think they are as good as the 11-2 record the currently are sporting, I don't think they're a joke, either. They're a solid team, who probably should be the favorite in the NFC. World beaters they are not, however.
