You know why there's no crying in baseball but it's okay in football? Because football is better.

I see you people still don't appreciate the genius of Mike Martz.

I think Vermeil will stay retired this time. I still remember him taking what had been the awful Philadephia Eagles to a Superbowl.

I was sick the week before Christmas and had to stay home from work a day. About the only good thing that came of it was the profile I got to watch of Dick Vermeil. I really had a whole new respect for him afterwards -- he's just a really classy, genuinely caring guy.

I forget the exact details because, like I said, I wasn't feeling well and my head wasn't entirely there -- but I right before or right after the Super Bowl, Vermeil contacted his old quarterback from his Eagles days and asked him how it felt to be a champion or something to that effect. I'm sure a lot of coaches stay in contact with their former teams, but I think it seems like when a coach says "every player I've ever coached contributed to this..." it seems like a crock. But from Vermeil, I don't know, I just get the impression that he truly means it.

Awesome coach and an even nicer guy. Never was an Eagles, Rams, or Chiefs fan, but he's had an amazing career and I'm glad he was able to win a Super Bowl. He'll be missed.

How did Vermeil ever make it? He seems like way too nice a guy to be a head football coach. He must have incredible charisma in person.

Sometimes people make fun of Vermeil for crying, but I think most of us don't, since he's sincere, and hes heartfelt. Nothing but respect for the man, who really cares.

A true class act and I'm glad I was able to watch him in action in St. Louis and Kansas City. I'm a big Eagles fan so I remembered him from his days in the best city in the world so I was very happy to see him come to St. Louis & KC. He'll be missed.

Yeah, he is probably the biggest "people person" in the game, which is why he gets so emotional. Somehow he's able to balance that with knowing what's best for winning football games as well, which is what made him so great.
