My gut feeling says he stays with the White Sox.

I bet he'll sign for something like 4/$40 with the White Sox.

Higher. They have already offered him a deal for 4 years, and at either 48 to 50 million. I doubt he will say, "no, make it 40, and we have a deal." As far as where he will end up, I doubt (hope) no one pays him more than Delgado is making, but I wouldn't put it past a few teams.

Delgado and Konerko in the same sentence. ROFLMAO!

Not a jab at the OTBA Team. Just the notion that people in baseball might think they were even close in value. Even with the age difference.

no way he signs for $12

i'm sure the angels have already told him (not directly of course), that they'll pay him 14-15

he's the only fish on the market this year

Eh, I went with the Red Sox because if the Manny thing goes through, the new GM will feel a need to make a splash immediately, and there aren't a whole lot of other options.

Then the teams should be good sportsmen/conservationists and throw that fish back.

40 HR + Face of a WS champ + Bare Market = Big payout.

Honestly, there are worse deals to be made (see: Damon, Johnny)... so I wouldn't lose that much sleep over this one. It's not like it'd be a 7 year deal to a 31 year old.

When it's all said and done, I would bet the deal is 4 years 52 million.

Now, THAT would be something to lose sleep over.

As for the Angels signing him... not a chance with Casey Kotchman waiting in the wings. Hell, he should have been starting there last year.

Konerko turns 30 next season and has exactly one topnotch season under his belt and that's IF you think he was exceptional on the defensive side this season. His track record as a quality glover is as equally spotty as his hitting record.

Signing him to a big deal is bonehead stoopid.

Which, of course, is why such a thing has never ever ever ever been done before in major league baseball in the entire history of the sport.

Paul Konerko has been signed to a massive contract before?

From what I've heard, Konerko wants something like a 5yr/$75million deal. According to his agent Craig Landis (son of former Sox OF Jim Landis, BTW), he is going to listen to offers.

I voted Sox, but that's more what I want than what I think will actually happen.

I was going to post that, but I think the 4/52 that I think he will sign is even to high to me.
