The Tigers have kind of always been my second-favorite team, and although I've never been a big fan of Leyland I hope he can bring a winner back to Detroit. There's some solid young talent in that organization like Jeremy Bonderman and Curtis Granderson, along with some pretty good vets. I can see no reason why they can't challenge with the personnel they have (or with minor offseason moves), considering Cleveland and Chicago were pretty successful and were by no means leaps and bounds better talent-wise.

I wonder if he will still smoke in the dugout.

I was kind of hoping the Pirates might bring him back.

As long as he doesn't wear a Groucho Marx disguise in the dugout.

Did anybody else hear the clips from Leyland after the announcement? I can't find it in print, but he said pretty much verbatim, "I don't know much about your team, which I guess is my team now. I don't know much about the American League."

Edit - Here is an article with a quote:

Wow, it doesn't seem like it's been 6 years since he last managed.
