Hit for avg, don't walk, don't strike out? = Hit & Run!

I have two solo leagues where I run 1 team in each.
(One historical career in 1905 and one fictional career)

In both leagues, I have ended up with teams that put the ball in play more than anyone else... Neither team strikes-out nor walks.

It was frustrating me to no end that I was last in walks and was stressing about how I could change that fact, quickly!

I've always tried to use Hit & Run sparingly in any game, but I broke from that self-imposed limit with the 1905 team since I imagine it being more commonplace in those days. And BOY did it [seem to] work! So I realized that with a team that puts the ball in play, this is a good strategy, so I started using it a LOT with my other team and BOY did it [seem to] work there too!

Both of my teams started playing at a higher winning percentage and moved up in the standings. I grew confident that being down by a few runs did not mean the game was over anymore.

What was more interesting was seeing a couple/few players who had been struggling previously, begin to excel.

Any thoughts on using the Hit and Run?
