Niners/Bears Thread
I think the Niners actually have a chance to knock off the Bears. Their defense plays tough and if they can get a turnover or two out of Orton it should be a great game. I don't see the Niners offense doing much against the Bears defense though. Look for Pickett to improve some from last week. It is a sad statement to make that the guy who started 4th on the depth chart at QB when the season started has been the best QB to watch.
Things to watch: Niners on the Road. The Niners have to play tough and not wilt as they have in previous road games. They are 0-3 and have been outscored 125-34. Kyle Orton vs. Niners D. He needs to have a good game and not make any mistakes. If he can keep the Bears winning the field position game and not give SF any short fields the Bears will win. Niners penalties. Probably cost them the game last week. It would have been an entirely different game if Lloyd's catch at the 2 yard line doesn't come back because of holding. The Niners need to be sharp if they want to stay in it. Brandon Lloyd. Seems to waiting for a breakout game. Makes the catch if the ball is close. Pickett needs to get him the ball early and often. Weather: The temperature won't matter as the West Coast has been cold of late. The wind is going to be a factor in every part of the game. This is a game that will be won in the trenches and with ball control. A low scoring affair. I'm taking the Niners 9-6

How the hell are the Niners supposed to concentrate on football when the Bears are wearing those..those...THINGS. Those could be the worst jerseys in the NFL.

with that wind it will be all about the running game & i think the bears will stop the niners and do enough on the ground to pu up a couple of TD's. Throw at your own risk in this one.
ahhhh, humbolt.... why arn't you high

Nothing of interest so far. Niners penalties are already a factor.
Parrish's broken leg is gone hurt the Niners too. Has a secondary ever taken so many injuries?

Just wow. Niners fans across the nation are weeping. We lose. We had a shot if no TD's were scored.

Anyway, Cody Pickett's inability to do anything but suck will keep the 49ers from winning this game. And the Bears defense is the best in the league. |

I didn't think Pickett played all that poorly. The wind messed up the few passes he threw. I will say that as much as I like Brandon Lloyd the alligator arms at the end-zone was chickensh*t. He had a touchdown if he just ran threw the ball and took a hit. Its the NFL and he's a receiver. Quit the pre-madonna bullsh*t and take a hit. That was a key moment. He catches that and the Niners have a chance to tie or pull within one.
My problems with the game: 108 yd return - Nolan called a timeout right before the attempt. I would have hoped that the Baltimore game from a few years ago would have been in his mind considering the wind conditions. He should have told his field goal unit to cover it like a punt after the kick and stay in lanes. About 8 guys all ran to the same spot allowing for the cutback. Rasheed Marshall trying to field a punt near the sideline at his own 20 after watching Wade muff a punt near his endzone. He should never have been near that ball. It was going out of bounds right where he tried to catch it. The lack of a play action pass in the first half. That was absurd. Penalties, penalties, penalties. After being one of the best teams in the league as far as penalties go, the Niners have absolutely shot themselves in the foot the last two weeks. They recover a fumbled punt on the two and end up losing 10 yards in penalties for stupid mistakes. Not holding or something physical during play, but a 12 men on the field and delay of game. Bottom line: The 49ers are just playing too sloppy to win football games.

Hell that's like saying Marino sucked at the end of his career. He didn't. That ******* Jimmy Johnson just junked all Dan's receivers so all that was left were idiots who couldn't catch the damn ball and kept dropping passes.
