A small issue involving fictional players
I have a question about fictional players and their service time.
I understand the dynamic of creating a fictional league and it populates the league with a nice cross-section of players of different age and development levels. This is good -- I want that. The league I want to create is, in my little corner of the OOTP world, going to be full of guys getting their first crack at major league ball, young and old, prospects with promise and career minor-leaguers finally getting a shot. OK, having established this, I now get to my question. Is there a way to quickly edit the service time of each player in this league to 0 years, 0 months, 0 days? For that matter, is there even a way to do it player-by-player, manually, one at a time? I don't want a league of 18-, 19- and 20-year-olds -- I want a broad range of ages. But I want them all to have no major league service time....any suggestions?

Well if you do create a league without players and Fill Triple A, you'll get some spread in the ages. When I've done something like that, I think I saw some guys in their late 20's getting their first chance. But you won't likely see anyone past 30.

I hope it works for you. It's been a long time since I've done that, and my memory may be off. But yeah, I had done it because I was looking to have a very fresh league.
It's funny when you don't have hardly any free agents til year 7 of the league. |

I tried Pierre's editor....I ended up with this on the HTML Player Page....
MLB Service Time: 0 years, 0 days (2068 days) It let me zero out years, but the days were still there and the player did not qualify as a rookie. The quality of the AAA players was not quite what I was after, either, so I simply punted and opted to just not make it an issue. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

Thanks, Mal. I was not using the newest version of Pierre's editor. I have it now and should be all set.

You want to create a league in which all players have 0 years, 0 days MLB service, right?
Easy. Just create a custom league and choose "none" in "league options", "players". This will create a league without any players. Then go into each team's transaction page and click "fill AAA with fictional players. All players will have 0 and 0 for MLB service time. Filling single A will give you even younger players. You can edit ages individually or export Player info to CSV and do it in spreadsheet format.
