Star system in 6.5

This was brought up in another thread, but possibly merits one of its own.

The player evaluation AI has been changed for 6.5, and the differences in assignment of stars reflects that. So, the question is, what do the stars represent now? Is there a new baseline off of a replacement level concept or are they still ranges off of a league average?

I believe they stayed the same, that is based off the league average but I'm not 100% sure. I do remember reading that they were going to adjust the code somewhat because there was not enough 1.5 star players showing 1.5 stars

Bump in hopes of attracting an insightful response ...

I've seen quite a few players go from 2.5-2.0* to 1.0* in the conversion from 6.12 to 6.5a, so it's something that had me wondering ...

All I can really add is I have noticed that the blue stars for prospects seem to be rated somewhat differently now is some of my leagues since converting to 6.5.

I haven't delved into starting a new league yet using 6.5 or 6.5a. I have however converted 2 solo leagues, 1 online league, and 2 test leagues from 6.12. In those leagues....some players who I know were 4.0 blue stars are now rated 5 stars. I can view those players in the editor to see what there ratings before and after converting were and they are the same. The only difference is the blue stars.

I also saw players in the ammy drafts that seemed to have talent ratings a little low for guys that were showing up as 5.0 blue stars.

It could just be my evaluations were off before in terms of what the game thought of as a 5.0 blue star...but I have felt it was adjusted some (which isn't a bad thing...just an observation) before I read this thread.

Ahh..just noticed you were more talking about gold stars....(sorry about that)

From what I've seen....there seems to be a difference in how they are rated in terms of the stars displayed, which is easy to check by just having a copy of the same league in 6.12 and 6.5a, but from what it seems and feel like to me....my impression/opinion is its still based on league average.

I haven't had the chance to play 6.5a a lot, but I have notcied that gold star ratings for MR's seems to be out of whack with previous versions. I've seen 4 star MR's with ratings that would have been lucky to garner 2 star status in previous versions. I traded away an alleged 34 year old 5 star MR with ratings of (on a 1-10 scale according to my Legendary scout) 3 stuff, 7 control and 7 movement. Meanwhile my 4 star 27 year old MR that I have has ratings of 9 stuff, 7 control, and 8 movement.

I have seen similar oddities with other MR's. The gold star ratings of other players seems to be reasonable, though.

The 1.5* issue was addressed with 6.5a, I believe.

The stars represent the same thing they did before, how each player compares to all of the other players that play the same position.

See the answer above.

The idea behind the stars was never mentioned as being changed. Since the evaluation AI was changed, it is logical to assume that the way the stars are determined are changed.

This seems reasonable.

If this is the case, I guess what I'm fishing for are the percentages above and below the mean for each of the star ratings, assuming they've been changed, as has been posted before for v6. Of course, I think only one guy can answer this question ...

For me personally, knowing the information you're after would take some fun away from the game.

I can see how that might be the case for some people, but for a game feature comprehensive as the star rating system, I'd like to know as much as possible so that I don't make misinformed decisions. Markus was kind enough to post the percentages for v6, so I'd like to think that information could also be shared with us if it has changed at all.

Just doing what one must do in the absence of a manual ...
