Minor League Contract Extensions
For some reason, some of my players who are signed to minor league contract extensions while in the minors still leave at the end of the year.
For example: Drafted in 32nd round, 955th overall pick, by Houston in 2005... 12/15/2005: Signed a minor league contract extension with Houston... <<<<<<somehow made his way to free agency>>>>>>> Signed as a free agent by Houston on 4/1/2006 to a minor league deal... 6/8/2006: Signed a minor league contract extension with Houston... <<<<<<back in free agency; fa period just started>>>>> The player has 153 days on the 40 man roster and 7 years of pro service (so he would have had 6 when he first went into free agency. Just wondering what exactly is happening here. |

You have the minor league free agents option turned on. If the player's not on the 40-man roster, an MLC extension won't keep him on the team.
