Fantasy Draft
I was screwing around, trying to delete some of the games I had started and quit when I first got the game (most were two games long and were used just to see how the game played, I'm a newbie) and what do I do but delete my real-life based Jays season. So I decided that I would start a new season with a fantasy draft and be a National League team since it is more fun managing a National League team. I took the Mets for no real reason and proceeded through the 60 round draft and am in the process of filling my minors with free agents. My question is this, I have a fairly good looking team on paper and was wondering if the fantasy draft option is too easy in this game? Have any of you done this with real MLB players? What were you reslults?
What I can remember of my team (I'm at work) it looks like this: SP: Dontrelle Willis SP: Chris Carpenter SP: Zach Grienke SP: another young good starter, though for the life of me I can't remember right now SP: Paul Byrd SP: Jamie Moyer CL: B.J Ryan MR: Huston Street MR: Brandon League MR: Arthur Rhodes MR: Chad Gaudin MR: another veteren lefty MR: Paul Shuey 1B: Justin Morneau 2B: Alfonso Soriano 3B: Eric Hinske SS: Neifi Perez LF: Andruw Jones CF: Rocco Baldelli RF: Melvin Mora C: Mike Leiberthal C: Mike Matheny 1B: Tino Martinez OF: Jeromy Burnitz UT: Tony Graffanino and a few other veterans and top prospects that I can't remember to fill the roster/keep in AAA for injury purposes. I was also able to get a lot of 5* prospects to fill my minor leagues. I haven't had time to see what kind of line-ups the other teams will be able to field, but I'm wondering if this may be too easy, or do I have too much young talent on my major league roster. Any comments will be welcomed. |

Everything is rating based, so the names don't matter. Check the potential of lesser known guys. If they have good ratings then there you go.

Thanks for replying. I do realize that everything is ratings based, and most of these guys have good ratings. I guess my main question is does the AI make draft selections with a team theory in mind, or take the best player available, or is it just random?

I haven't done enough drafts to note any particular patterns, but I have noticed that the computer will attempt a balance between pitchers and position players (first four rounds usually feature two of each).

I have noticed them taking decent blue star prospects in the early rounds too. They league I drafted with 6.5 has 3 teams (including mine) have a number of players on the top 100 prosepct board. So it may be that they draft a fairly mixed team while some vie for the future. I do not know these 2 other teams draft position.
