The Chase For .400

I know this has been done before but will it really hurt to take up space in the dynasty section when someone may not be using it? Well I believe not so heres my mini-dynasty.

I took over the Colorado Rockies in 2006 and it is now 2008. I have won the World Series both years I have been manager by getting players who could hit and run like crazy while having no power. One of the hitters on this team is Ichiro Suzuki. He was brought to Colorado in a trade that send Albert Pujols and Cory Sullivan to Seattle for Ichiro and Jeremy Reed. Pujols suprisingly has turned into a low contact hitter with great power numbers even though he has almost maxed out ratings. Sullivan has been a nice everyday player. Ichiro is hitting .400 this year while Reed is 2nd behind him at .350.

Ichiro is currently hitting .401 with 20 games left and this will be the run for .400 dynasty.

Heres his current statline:
Code:
Year G AB H 2B 3B HR RBI R BB HP SF K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
2008 137 559 224 44 14 11 101 111 32 2 3 18 36 17 .401 .433 .589 1.021
Up Next:Game 1 vs. San Francisco

P.S. My grammar is horrible.

Current Avg:.401

At-Bat #2 Against RHP Matt Farnum

Ichiro has to deal with more Giants pitching. This time against Righty Matt Hensley who looks like a decent pitcher, but has a 4-16 record to his name. Ichiro needs to cash in on this chance.

At-Bat #1 Against RHP Matt Hensley
Ichiro's day starts off quietly as he walks on 5 pitches.
Current Avg:.399

At-Bat #2 Against RHP Matt Hensley
Ichiro's lowest hitting month continues with a ground out to Jake Gautreau.
Current Avg:398

At-Bat #3 Against RHP Matt Hensley
Ichiro finally gets a hit with a rocket to the gap for a two bagger.
Current Avg:.399

At-Bat #4 Against RHP Justin Duchscherer
Bottom of the 9th, 2 outs and no one on and Ichiro is up.The Rockies are trailing by one and he hits a 1-1 fastball deep and long to the right field wall and its in the STANDS!! Number 12 of the year.
Current Avg:.400

Thoughts:I'm very happy even though we lost in the 10th.

This was the last game against the Giants and Ichiro was up against Jorge Sosa who like Matt Hensley was having a down year and could help Ichiro a lot.

At-Bat #1 Against RHP Jorge Sosa
Ichiro got off to a hot start with a single into left field.
Current Avg:.401

At-Bat #2 Against RHP Jorge Sosa
Michael Garciaparra makes a catch that even Spiderman would find near impossible to do. This took away a hit from Mr. Suzuki.
Current Avg:.400

At-Bat #3 Against RHP Jorge Sosa
Ichiro fouled off about 7 pitches before he hit a shallow one to left that was caught.
Current Avg:.400

At-Bat #4 Against LHP B.J. Ryan
Ichiro smokes one into right for a single.
Current Avg:.401

At-Bat #5 Against RHP Justin Duchscherer
Ichiro ends the game quietly with a ground out to Gautreau.
Current Avg:.400

Thoughts:Nice and keeps him at .400.

Ichiro is starting a series against the Dodgers and Jake Westbrook is pitching. Westbook has had the best year in a long time but even though those numbers are not any better then decent. Ichiro could be in for a big night.

1st At-Bat vs. RHP Jake Westbrook
Ichiro gets things started right with a solo shot to center.
Current Avg:.401

2nd At-Bat vs. RHP Jake Westbrook
Ichiro does it again! This time its a 2 run blast. He is really putting on a show. Number 14 for Mr. Suzuki.
Current Avg:.402

3rd At-Bat vs. RHP Jake Westbrook
Westbrook finally figures out Ichiro and gets him to fly out to left.
Current Avg:.401

4th At-Bat vs. RHP Jake Westbrook
Ichiro uses his great eye to get on base on a full count and keeps his great day going.
Current Avg:.401

5th At-Bat vs. RHP Russ Ortiz
With no outs in the 11th Ichiro helps seal the game with a blazing single to right.
Current Avg:.402

Thoughts:With a POG and a .402 average i'm real excited.

Ichiro will be performing to a full Colorado crowd tonight due to Glove day. He will be going up against Billy Traber who is nothing more then a journeyman pitcher. Good fortune is in the air for Mr. Suzuki.

1st At-Bat vs. LHP Billy Traber
Ichiro doesn't come close to starting the game on the same level as last night and ends up hitting a high flyball to center for an out.
Current Avg:.402

2nd At-Bat vs. LHP Billy Traber
Ichiro grounds out to Bobby Crobsy.
Current Avg:.401

3rd At-Bat vs. LHP Billy Traber
Billy Traber accomplishes quite a feat by striking Ichiro out for only the 20th time this year.
Current Avg:.400

4th At-Bat vs. RHP Chris Reitsma
Ichiro finally gets a hit and drives in a run by getting it over Michael Young.
Current Avg:.401

Thoughts:Ichiro had me worried until the 8th inning.

Eric Milton is Ichiro's counterpart tonight and has turned into an all-star type pitcher after learning to keep the ball inside the park. Ichiro could be in trouble.

1st At-Bat vs. LHP Eric Milton
Ichiro starts out slow with a groundout to Sean Burroughs.
Current Avg:.401

2nd At-Bat vs. LHP Eric Milton
Barely got one pass Bobby Crosby and this allowed him to drive in Carl Crawford.
Current Avg:.402

3rd At-Bat vs. RHP Russ Ortiz
New pitcher and Ichiro takes advantage by shooting one to rightfield for a hit.
Current Avg:.403

4th At-Bat vs. RHP Chris Reitsma
Fires a hot one right to Bobby Crosby.
Current Avg:.402

5th At-Bat vs. RHP Jeremy Guthrie
He finishes the game quietly with a groundout to the right side for an out.
Current Avg:.401

Thoughts:Ichiro is tired and I might sit him so he'll be in full strength for the final run.

Ichiro is going up against a young stud in Travis Blackley. This kid could pose real problems for Ichiro.

1st At-Bat vs. LHP Travis Blackley
Ichiro got off to a hot start with a liner over Bobby Crosby
Current Avg:.402

2nd At-Bat vs. LHP Travis Blackley
Ichiro cooled down with a pop up in the infield.
Current Avg:.402

3rd At-Bat vs. LHP Travis Blackley
Ichiro ripped one dowb the line for a triple.
Current Avg:.403

4th At-Bat vs. RHP D.J. Hanson
Ichiro is gone with a strike out.
Current Avg:.402

Thoughts:Good game but Ichiro needs a rest.

Tonight Ichiro gets to face the Nationals and he has a very good track record against the Nationals squad. Tonight's starter is Wilfredo Ledezma who has great control and movement but isn't very overpowering.

1st At-Bat vs. RHP Wilfredo Ledezma
Ichiro starts cold with a flyball to right field.
Current Avg:.401

2nd At-Bat vs. RHP Wilfredo Ledezma
Ichiro gives us the lead with a solo bomb to center. His 15th of the year.
Current Avg:.402

3rd At-Bat vs. RHP Roy Oswalt
Roy is able to scoop one up for an easy out.
Current Avg:.402

4th At-Bat vs. RHP Roy Oswalt
Ichiro hits a nice double that easily gets pass the left fielder.
Current Avg:.403

5th At-Bat vs. RHP Luis Ayala
In his last at-bat he gets another great hit to left.
Current Avg:.404

Thoughts:Great game the average is up and only 12 games left.

Ichiro is looking to keep this hot streak going. Although he'll have to go up against the ace of this staff in Sun Woo Kim who is a good pitcher and is one of the reasons for Washington leading the NL East. Ichiro could have some trouble tonight.

1st At-Bat vs. RHP Sun Woo Kim
Ichiro hits a high chopper to 3rd and gives his all to out run the ball and get to first safely. An infield hit for Mr. Suzuki
Current Avg:.405

2nd At-Bat vs. RHP Sun Woo Kim
Ichiro gets a hot smash that was too quick for any Washington infielder to get to.
Current Avg:.406

3rd At-Bat vs. RHP Sun Woo Kim
Groundout to Jimmy Rollins gets Ichiro out for the first time tonight.
Current Avg:.405

4th At-Bat vs. RHP Chad Codero
Ichiro apparently has the Nationals scared and gets put on intentionally.
Current Avg:.405

Thoughts:Good game and awesome average.

Ichiro after two hot nights finishes off a series with the Nationals tonight. He gets Ryan Vogelsong who is a good pitcher but has never been a quality counted on guy. Ichiro could continue this hot streak tonight.

1st At-Bat vs. RHP Ryan Vogelsong
Ichiro hits a weak flyball to center for an out.
Current Avg:.404

2nd At-Bat vs. RHP Ryan Vogelsong
Ichiro hits another shallow fly ball again to center for an out.
Current Avg:.404

3rd At-Bat vs. RHP Ryan Vogelsong
Ichiro hits a two hopper to first for an out.
Current Avg:.403

4th At-Bat vs. RHP Ryan Vogelsong
Ichiro hits a weak grounder to the pitcher for an out.
Current Avg:.402

Thoughts:CRAP,CRAP,CRAP

Victor Santos is the ace of the Padres staff and could be a Cy Young contender in any given year. Ichiro after last night might be in for another 0-4 night.

1st At-Bat vs. RHP Victor Santos
Ichiro hits a groundout to short.
Current Avg:.402

2nd At-Bat vs. RHP Victor Santos
Ichiro flies one pass Juan Francia for a hit.
Current Avg:.403

3rd At-Bat vs. RHP Victor Santos
Ichiro hits a grounder to first for an out.
Current Avg:.402

4th At-Bat vs. RHP Crais Breslow
Ichiro hits a high flyball to right for an out.
Current Avg:.401

Thoughts:Even though he got a hit I'm sitting him out tomorrow so he can be rested for the final 8 games. Since we have no more off days.

Ichiro after a day off is ready to get back to old habits and get that average up. He'll be going against Ryan Dempster who has not found a solid home in the past 3 years while being a quality 5th starter. Ichiro is pumped and ready to go.

1st At-Bat vs. RHP Ryan Dempster
Ichiro hits a hard one to the gap and is able to get a double off of it.
Current Avg:.402

2nd At-Bat vs. RHP Ryan Dempster
Ichiro hits one that the shortshop had no chance of catching.
Current Avg:.403

3rd At-Bat vs. RHP Ryan Dempster
Ichiro makes the second baseman look like he was frozen. He gets another single to make that 3 for 3 tonight.
Current Avg:.404

4th At-Bat vs. RHP Ryan Dempster
Ichiro again gets it pass Juan Francia (2B) and just embarasses him with his 4th hit.
Current Avg:.405

5th At-Bat vs. RHP Mark Redman
Ichiro finally gets shown up by Francia and is out on a grounder.
Current Avg:.405

Thoughts:POG and a 4 for 5 night. I am very glad I gave him that day off.
