New York Yankees- A Rebuilding Story

Being a Red Sox fan and loving OOTP I figured it would be natural to attempt a Yankees Dynasty. Hopefully people

YANKEES PURCHASED BY BOSTONIAN BUISNESS MAN, ESTIMATED 800 MILLION DOLLAR DEAL

Today the Yankees were purchased out of George Steinbrenner’s filthy hands, according to an Associated Press release. Leonard Boss, a businessman from Boston has purchased the team. “Well, being a Red Sox fan ever since I was born, I had always wanted to own them. When the team went up for sale in 2002, I was a finalist but financial restrictions halted those plans. Four years later my stock has risen, and I’m a billionaire!"

Boss also expressed his need for change with the Yankees. “We’re an old team. The team we have constructed right now cannot win us a World Series. Be on the lookout for numerous moves to be made here in good old New York.” Said Boss at his press conference. Expect numerous trades coming very, very soon. ESPN reports veterans such as: Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina, and even Yankee legend Mariano Rivera will be out of town soon. Keep in check, just in case changes are made. The Regular Season starts in Two Weeks.

YANKEES TRADE MUSSINA, POSADA TO TAMPA BAY!

Today, shortly after their new owner was announced the New York Yankees have already made quite a splash. The Yankees have announced a huge deal! They will send SP Mike Mussina ( age 36 and making 19 million dollars per year) and catcher Jorge Posada ( age 33, 12 million dollars per year) to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In return, the Yankees recieve pitching prospect Scott Kazmir (who is a lefty, 4 star prospect, and makes only 300k per year) along with closer Danys Baez. Baez is a 4 star closer, and only makes 3.5 million this season.
Not only do the Yankees lose a huge sum of salary, they also gain high quality talent along the way. Kazmir and Baez will look pretty darn good in pinstripes for many, many years to come.
With Baez coming in, does this mean the end of the Mariano Rivera era in New York? Only time will tell now. Stay Tuned.

PS, if people are reading this please try to rate my trades on a 1-10 scale. It'll help me for future deals.

Another Trade.. trying to do a lot tonight :)

YANKEES SEND WILLIAMS,PAVANO, CROSBY TO ARIZONA.

In another Recent move today, the New York Yankees acquire more young starting pitching. The Yankees traded CF Bernie Williams, who is 36 years old and has a hefty yearly contract of 12 million per year, LF Bubba Crosby who was supposed to take over for Williams once he retired, and Carl Pavano who is 29 years of age and is going to make 9.5 million dollars over 3 more seasons. Who did the Yankees get in return you ask? They got quality.
The Yankees acquire D'Backs ace pitcher Brandon Webb, who is 25 years old, a 5 star prospect, and only makes 720k per season. Along side Webb, OF Shawn Green will be packing his bags for New York. Green is a 32 year old power hitting Right Fielder. It is expected that Hideki Matsui will move to CF, Gary Sheffield to LF, and place Green in right.

RUMOR MILL-
Randy Johnson may be out of town very soon....

To Astros- I'm using Halofan's roster set from opening day. I figured I could use Flarehty at Catcher for this season until Jon Mark Sprowl is ready in 2006 to be the catcher. That is of course I dont go out and trade for a catcher ;-)

YANKEES TRADE AWAY HISTORY?

The Yankees have pulled off yet another trade. The Bronx Bombers, lost Mariano Rivera, Alex Rodriguez, and Jason Giambi in this trade. Combined, these players make close to 40 million dollars. Giambi and Rivera are also in old age. A-Rod may be the only huge loss here. Rodriguez, who is 29 will be returning to Texas.
The Texas Rangers send in return: 2B Alfonso Soriano(3.5),Fancisco Cordero(4.5),1B/3B Mark Teixeria (5.0 p), C Rod Barajas(3.0), and OF Laynce Nix(4.5p). It's clear that the Yankees have gotten much younger, and addressed most of their needs. They lose A-Rod but gain Teixeria. They lose Rivera but gain Cordero, who is younger and more powerful. They lose Giambi but gain a 2B, OF, and a C that they desperatley needed.

Beantown Trade!

YANKEES MAKE A DEAL WITH THE RIVAL.
The Yankees have made another trade in their re-buidling effort. Today the Yanks have shipped disgruntled Right Fielder Gary Sheffield to the Boston Red Sox. Sheffield is a 4 star veteran, but has a hefty price tag along with him. "Sheff" as he is called by his peers is 36, and makes 13 million dollars per year. His contract is also void at the end of this season, making him a Free Agent. Sheffield is a powerful bat, and should be a good 'rent a player' for Boston; unless they want to pay him 13+ million next season.
In return, the Red Sox send fan favorite ' Big Papi' David Ortiz. Papi, is 29 years old and a 4.5 vet. Ortiz has incredible power, and is very clutch as most Yankee fans know. Ortiz just barely makes over 5 million dollars. His deal will be up in '06.
" When we placed the offer on the table, we didnt think Boston would actually accept it" Said Yankee GM Brian Cashman.
" We really needed another proven slugger on our team. We loved David, and we will love Gary as well. Our outfield is now a lot better because of this trade, besides Ortiz can only DH for us" claims Red Sox GM Theo Epstein.

The Yankees are now beginning to take shape, and that shape is the World Series trophy.

Astros- I got some high quality players in that deal. The Yankees are a lot younger now, and our payroll is only 127 million or so. I've cut 80 million dollars worth of salary within a few hours! I think the future looks bright, even if we dont win it all this year.

YANKEES STRIKE FREE AGENCY

Early this morning, the New York Yankees have strucken the Free Agent Market. Closer Danny Graves was on the market, searching for a place to call his home. New York seems to be that place. The Yankees inked Graves for 300k as a one year deal. Graves, who closed last season for the Cincinatti Reds was released about two weeks ago. Graves recorded 41 saves last year, but internal feuds led to his release from Cincinatti. Graves will accompany the newly acquired Danys Baez, and Francisco Cordero to make the Yankees bullpen a lot better than it was earlier on this season. Graves being a flamethrower (95-99 mph) makes him a threat late in games. Graves is a 3.5 star veteran with an endurance rating of 55.

Oh Captain, My Captain!

Oh Captain My Captain!

The Yankees have traded SS Derek Jeter(4.0), OF Hideki Matsui(3.0) and SP Chien-Ming-Wang(5.0p) to the Oakland Athletics. This move caps off the full dismantling of the Yankees organization. Many experts believed that Derek Jeter would finish his career as a Yankee. This shows why experts are wrong. In return the A's send a slew of talent to New York. These players include: MR Huston Street(5.0p) 21 yrs old, SS Bobby Crosby(5.0p) 25 yrs old,OF Eric Byrnes(3.0..really underrated IMO)29 yrs old, and DH/1B Erubiel Durazo (5.0) 31 yrs old. The Yankees lose their captain in Jeter, but gain priceless players in return. The Yankees get the better end of the spectrum in this deal. Their batting order is now full of power hitters.

Red face It's April 19th, and the Yankees are in 1st Place!

YANKEES ARE IN FIRST PLACE, 8-5 RECORD. KEVIN BROWN ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT PLANS AT THE CONCLUSION OF THIS SEASON!

The Yankees started the season off promising, at 1-0. They then proceeded to lose the remaining games agaisnt Boston and were as bad as 1-3. The Yankees battled back though, and through this run went on a 5 game winning streak. Whilst they were winning, Boston was barely staying afloat. After releasing John Halama, and Alan Embree the Sox bullpen was lackluster. Those big releases may come back to haunt the Bostonians.
Francisco Cordero, who was supposed to be as good as Rivera has a 9.00 ERA, 4 Saves, and 2 Losses. He clearly needs to get his head on straight in order to ensure the Yankees dominance. Sean Henn, is tied for the team lead with 2 wins. Henn has a 1.50 ERA, while teammate Brandon Webb is 1-0 with a 1.27 ERA.
Young Phenom SP Scott Kazmir is 0-0 with a 27.00 ERA thus far on the season. Kazmir needs to work on his mechanics in order to keep his spot. Randy Johnson is 2-1, with a 3.57 ERA Kevin Brown is 1-1 with a 5.78 ERA. Perhaps his retirement will be a good thing for the Yankees, seeing as thats the only way he'll leave New York; no other team wants him.
Danny Graves has been un-hittable in the bullpen so far this year, with a 0.00 ERA with 1 win. Tom Gordon has been as good as advertised, with the same record and ERA. Danys Baez is struggling with a 9.00 ERA with 1 win.

On the offense, Bobby Crosby is the team leader. Crosby, has slugged 5 Homers so far, and his .356 BA leads the team. Alfonso Soriano is a close second in HR, with 3. His batting average however, is only .246. Erubiel Durazo, is struggling so far with 1 Homer and is hitting only .227 so far this season.

INJURY WIRE-
OF Eric Byrnes. Eric has 2 weeks left on the DL , because of an inflamed back muscle.
MR Tanyon Sturtze. Sturtze will be missed for one more week on the DL, because of an undisclosed injury. The team did not comment why it was undisclosed.

CHECKING UP ON OLD YANKEES-
BOS Gary Sheffield .339 BA 5 HR, 11 RBI
TAM Mike Mussina 0-1 7.58 ERA
TAM Jorge Posada .219 BA 1 HR, 3 RBI
TEX Jason Giambi .404 BA 6 HR, 12 RBI
TEX Alex Rodriguez .294 BA 2 HR, 9 RBI
TEX Mariano Rivera INJURED, 2 DAYS REMAINING. 0-0, 0.00 ERA 2 SV 3 G
OAK Derek Jeter .286 BA 2 HR, 8 RBI
OAK Hideki Matsui .300 6 HR, 15 RBI

Tomorrow i'll do 3 more weeks. I'll also take any Stat Requests people may have.

Yankees make a major trade.

YANKEES BID FAREWELL TO SORIANO, NIX.
Slightly before their game this evening, the New York Yankees have made yet another trade. The Yankees send OF Laynce Nix who is a 4 star prospect, and 24 years old. Along side Nix, second baseman Alfonso Soriano who is a 4 star veteran and 29 years of age; will be leaving New York again. The Yankees went out searching for bullpen help, and another big bat. They got that, plus more in this trade.
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, send in return to New York : 3B Dallas McPherson who is a 5 star prospect and only 24, CL Francisco Rodriguez who is a 4.5 star veteran and only 23,2B Adam Kennedy who is a 2.5 star veteran, and OF Garret Anderson who is a seasoned 2.5 Star player, that is considered one of the hardest workers and best leaders in baseball.
With this trade, the Yankees move back into 2nd place in the MLB's payroll wars with a team salary of 111,061,666 . New York adds on to a league leading offense, and gets some much needed bullpen help:

Batting AVG: .281 (6th)
Homeruns: 20 (1st)
Walks: 45 (8th)
Stolen Bases: 14 (2nd)
Runs Scored: 77 (6th)

Pitching ERA: 5.03 (24th)
Opponents AVG: .295 (27th)
HRs Allowed: 12 (T-12th)
Walks Allowed: 41 (17th)
Runs Allowed: 68 (25th)

The addition of K-Rod should help the Yankees immensly.
