Whats next for Roy Jones Jr?

So whats next for the former champ? Him and Lampley were talking about a possible Jones-Hopkins fight. Personally, I think it'd be better for Jones if he fights someone before that fight, if he does actually fight Hopkins. But then again, I think Taylor will pull off the upset and beat Hopkins, so a Jones-Hopkins match up wouldn't be as exciting if Hopkins lost.

I got kind of off topic, but whatever. What does everyone else think Jones should do?

In my opinion he dont need a tune-up fight for hopkins, From what my friends and peers at boxingtalk told me that we might have a update on jones hopkins in the coming days, It looks like jones want hopkins bad, and wont mind a catch weight of 172, or even 170, (personally i think 170 is way to low) but anyway it looks like they had some conversation (jacob his manager) and Shaffer (match maker of golden boy) about the fight, i dont know much all i know is my boy anguiler from b-talk told me there has been some talk!

Again Jones dont need a tune-up fight and since and if the fight do happen it will ntake place early december he wont have time for a tune-up not this roy he need to be focus and excited about ****, so i think hopkins in december and retire is the way!

Oscar is not fighting for the rest of the year wife having a baby in december this ****ing pisses me off since hbo gave him the september date over erik morales, because it was going to be him and berra, now it looks like berra in another fuking worthless ppv with peden (no disrespect to my aussie fans i give peden a good chane to win) Im not saying this is not a competive fight, but Erik was willing to take on pac-man (if the legal battles was clear) Or the future IBF lightweight champ (Johnson now) and top rank was going to have castillo in a come back fight and possibly Pac ina fight for a 2nd showdown in december. but oscar lied to hbo and said he was fighting in september, and said it was going to be him and berra, but now he says he wants to be with his wife cuz she is preg one problem bitch!!!! she been preg for 3 months now!!!!!!

So he knew all along what he was doing big up HBO for actually taking this ****, Along with Trying to buy Klitsko vs. Olegseg whatever his name is, only good thing about that fight (IF IT HAPPENS OR IF KLITSKO GETS STRIPPED) is that Erik is suppose to be on the undercard.

Yes

Well like every fighter before them Jones Jr is againg I believe he will fade from the spotlight like an Ezzard Charles or even Tommy Morrison, perhaps not that bad. De La Hoya has I also believe faded from the spotlight somewhat ever since he started singin.

Im so sorry guys, i was writing the klits-ko post, and this one at the same time, and my anger just got the best of me, and I could not keep focus. I was talking to my guy from Boxingtalk on the phone when I found out, Shelly Finkle and HBO Actually dont care if Klit-sko give up the title-belt as they call it, because The Ring is what they follow.

Roy and Hopkins looks good for December, At least thats what Jacob (Roy Manager) Said, It might be at a catch weight, And i believe Roy is Ok with a 50/50 Split. Now This fight was suppose to take place Last September, before Oscar Jumped in, so what do I know, But Jacob, Told us Talks from Yesterday was good.

If you have the time Go read the Letter Rahman Sent to The WBC.

Now Im no boxing Expert, But Klitschko can get around this right? He dont have to give his belt up, can he say its a non-title Fight? I asked Aguirre this and he looking into it I thought maybe you guys would know this.

Hopkins shouldn't take the fight at anything over 170 (even that is quite a bit.....ten pounds up from 160) -

Though if it happens at 170 or lower I think Hopkins wins fairly easily - Roy is done! - He doesn't have the speed he once had - Speed was everything for him -

So without speed Roy is done - Because he doesn't have a chin nor does he have much heart to stand and fight if things get tough -

Tommy Morrison??? please dont compare Roy Jones to Tommy Morrison you were ok with the Ezzard Charles but not Tommy Morrison lets remeber who we are talking about he was the best fighter of a generation few people could claim that almost all of the great fighters have gone out maybe holding on a little too long Joe Louis, Muhammed Ali and Jack Dempsey all suffered loses in the end.

Roy Do have heart, He got up when tarver knocked him out, and tried to when Johnson Did it!

But Roy Lost reflexes and with that he get hit more and with that, he dont need to be fighting at 175! Roy Should Jump on Hopkins at 170 on up infact he should fight him period because he has a chance to beat hopkins, and with a win like that it will make people forget about johnson, and tarver.

No, Eric
Real historians will not forget Jones two KOs by Tarver and Johnson.
Sure Jones had lost some of his reflexes, but a chin is still a chin. So it has to now casts doubts in their minds if his chin would have stood up it had been put to the test against the former all time great punchers from the past, even at his prime.

I did and im confused how a guy who is on tv almost for every major fight is going to fade from the spotlight and i thought since that was impossible u meant he was going to fade from memory and thats why i spoke of Jones career as opposed to Morrison. On the topic of Jones Jr. vs some of the historical greats what division are we all comparing him in cause his chin at light heavyweight is different from middleweight and super middleweight.

See even if he didn't have a chin in his prime he had all the other tools, He was so talented that he never really took the time to master the game, and fighters like that end up paying for it at the end.

Jones has never been the same since the Ruiz fight. Whether he has just gotten old quickly or taking off the 25 pounds of predominately muscle he put on for the Ruiz fight has killed him I'm not sure.

I agree with you BoxingNut that at his age losing all that weight so quickly led to him losing some of the reflexes that caused his downfall imagine how different everything would have been if he decided to stay at heavyweight and fight Holyfield or Tyson.
