Simming Problems

I've noticed this on a couple versions of the game, and it annoys me more and more to the point where I can't use a button because of it. Let me explain...

I like to play out my games, but I sim up to inning 7. Normally I play out the rest of the game, but when I sim out the rest of the game by inning (or half inning) I encounter the same problem. This doesn't occur when I say "Sim to X inning".

The problem is that my pitchers never get subbed for. Even if they are tired or exhausted, my manager just keeps throwing him out there every inning.

Is this a design flaw or is there something that I can do about it?

Honestly, since you are in the game after clicking the "Manage Game" button, that seems like it's working correctly. Effectively by clicking the "Sim to X inning" button you're saying "I'm going to leave the field for a few hours, don't do anything." I can just imagine the uproar that would ensue if the game tried to infer your wishes and took out a pitcher for example or pinch hit for a star batter.

Then I guess my question would be, why does it not work like that when I say "Sim to X Inning"?

Are you the manager, or is the AI the manager? If you are the manager, then subs don't happen. If the AI is the manager then subs happen.

Did you change the lineup and forgot to make the AI the manager again? I've done that and got a complete game 22 run loss.

I sim all sorts of different ways and I've never noticed an issue.

I'm the manager.

But again, I don't understand how if I say "sim to an inning" subs are made, but if I say "sim half inning" or "sim inning" subs aren't.

Perhaps it doesn't make substitutions in the sim-half-inning option because there are many ways to use it. For example, I have used it on occasion to get through a painful half-inning and I know I would not be happy if the AI made a bunch of changes on me.

When simming it probably looks at how long it is in charge as far as what decisions it can make. Let it sim 6 innings and it will judge your starter's effectiveness and pinch hit or relieve if he isn't getting the job done.

On the other hand, if it's only in charge for a half-inning, it may expect that you will then make any changes, since at the end of that half-inning you are in charge again.

This is speculation though.
