players getting deleted

I recently started a league online and i am notcing players are disappearing...like new york mets kris benson i had just got deleted and scott kazmir on tampa bay got deleted and i had to re create them..i am sure this is some bug or something i have never had a problem like this before using ootp6...

You really need to give me ALOT more info, like number of players on these rosters, when this apparently happens, etc.

64 on tampa

78 on nym

um i couldn't find benson on the mets roster so i created him, i created kazmir again after he was deleted..um i save it and output it and then it turns out 1 was gone and then i created kazmir and thought it be ok and then benson was gone and replaced with some MR spect

You still didn't answer WHEN does this show up, what have you just previously done, what type of league is it...................

i guess career i am not really sure...it shows up on the site when u click on the player as a white page nothing then when u open the sim there not there...in the sim i clicked on the date change for the draft to create players, and i have been trading players, editing a lot players and thats it...nothing else at all...first it was kazmir then it was benson...

I'm a bit unclear, is this showing up "IN THE GAME" or on a web site? Two completely different things. At what point of the season is this?

ok we havnt started yet, i ran 7 perfect seasons, loaded someones rosters off a site starts with a H i think the guy....then i been updating and were supposed to start tomorrow..should i hold off?...well someone noticed kazmir's page wouldnt load so i went into the sim to see and he was gone...then i am the GM of the mets and went to deal benson and he wasnt on the site he had been replaced with some 1.0 spect in my bullpen...

So this is an online league, beginning in 2004 or 2005? Have you had imports and exports done by GM's? Well, first of all every now and then this problem would pop up but I have not seen or heard of it recently, secondly this is a "roster set" an OOTP can't really be responsible for how the game responds to "third party" add-ons since they were not produced by the game itself.

well if its just a roster set it shouldn't really effect that right?...nope no imports or exports...i have exported html to upload thats it...well what do u suggest?

Steve, I've not seen this fellow's problem, but I had a similar one. It occured when I accidentally shut my computer down with the game open and viewing the "retired players" section, and the next time I booted the game up, I found retired players scattered throughout the league in place of some active players! Cap Anson...Dan Brouthers...you name it! I had to go through by hand and delete all of the retired players...weird part was, I couldn't pinpoint the result to anything in particular. It seemed that catchers were more often than not the unlucky victim (my backup catcher was replaced by...recently retired Woody Williams), but there were relievers affected, too. And positions almost seemed irrelevant as to the "replacements".

Anyhow, weirdest bug I'd ever seen, so I figured I'd mention it.

ok now Kendry Morales is gone, and players that I have moved from 1 team to another are back on there original roster!...i moved koskie to jays from twins and now he is back on the twins....i am not doing anything but outputting...this is really getting annoying i think he has to be something in the patch because i have never had this problem before...morales and benson i created do you think it has something to do with that? but why would koskie go back to the twins...i am also noticing that players i create like raul mondesi are being created twice and i find them on another team..is there a way i can uninstall the patch? because i think thats it


if i start a new league would that get rid of this problem?

It sounds like your player file is definately corrupted, but I can say without question it's not the patch. Player files get corrupted for two reasons, (1) they are interupted while doing something (outages, crashes, power fluctuations) and (2) having the game open twice at the same time. Although there isn't any way to fix a corrupted player file, starting a new league would fix the problem.

ok so i started a new league and loaded halofan's latest roster sets...i should be ok now right..it had nothing to do with the roster patch or player picture patch u think right.....

and also when u mean the sim is open and power goes out ? or when power goes out in general

The power issues I mentioned are only when the game is open or running. If it's only "open" and not doing anything, it's unlikely a problem will occur, but if you have a power problem while the game is "doing something" then that's when the corruption can happen.

i dont recall that happening to me? are u sure that startin a new league will fix it?

It just hit our league, too, and I'm positive I know what happened (sorta).

I save a full backup then do incremental ones after each sim until the update zip gets to be big enough to do another full backup. I did one right after we moved from 2008 to 2009. Everything was fine. At some point during the past week, I went in and looked at the retired players list (no power interruptions... no shutting off with the retirees listed), and now we have various retired players taking the place of active ones throughout the league.

I restored the full backup and all is fine. Need to re-run the last few FA sim days, though... and stay out of retired players list!!

Just thought I'd report this, so others don't think they're going crazy.

I am running 6.12 on Windows XP. Never had any problems before, but I've also never bothered going into retired players before (we just got to the point in our history where we are looking for potential HoF'ers).
