Oscar vs Hopkins-true?
Heard this fight is going down in September. All of a sudden I'm wondering about Oscar's size. I think he mght be too small for someone like Hopkins......

If they both win in June, it's a done deal. That's what I heard anyway.

BAM FOR REAL! YOU JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS?
They been had this signed since the begining of Feb! They did press confrenses all over the world! Here is the detail from me the news man! Ok Its a two fight deal, Oscar and Hopkins will be fighting on the same card come june and oscar is fighting for the 160 wbo belt And against Felex Storm (or sturm) and Hopkins is fighting his thrid fight with Allen, If they both win they will fight in setpemeber, But on boxingtalk.net Hopkisn admitted that if Oscar Dont want the fight even after he wins the belt he can pull out but will have to pay hop 2mil and his promoter will pay him 2 mil but Oscar is reported to get close to 30mil for fighter hop ans hop gets close to 12mil, for this fight, Oscar says he only fighting 2 more times after June 5 he said even if he beats hopkins his last fight will be in december he hopes its Tito or shane, as he told Boxingtalk.net really want Tito! |

Yeah, work sucks.
I'd stay away from Hopkins if I was Oscar, and I'm an Oscar fan....just too physical for him.... Thanks for the clue in.....

I agree Bam Bam, I like Oscar too but Hopkins just seems too big for him. Hopkins has a chin & I don't think Oscar has enough power to back him up or hurt him.
The only chance Oscar might have is that @ 39, one day Hopkins might finally fight more like his age. Gil Clancy said you never know when a fighter will turn old in the ring. It doesn't seem that long ago but it will almost be 3 years since Hopkins took apart Tito. He sure looked good beating up Joppy in Dec. though - doesn't look old yet! |

You'd think fighting once a year would have a negative effect, but at his age it seems to be working for him.....

darth, I can understand you not liking Oscar but how can anyone still call him a chicken?
In the July 2004 issue of "The Ring Extra" they have some stats on page 38 showing that Oscar has beaten 15 champs in his career so far. Roy Jones is 2nd with 14 & Tszyu is 3rd with 11. How can anyone be called a chicken who's on top of that list & who also wants to fight Hopkins in September? |

Darth is dumb, plain and simple. He roots for Syracuse yet went to St. John's.
Does one need to say more about the type of guy and fan he is?

What the hell? De La Hoya is a HOF boxer, the guy has fought everybody there is, EVERYBODY, and he's not done yet. Oscar haters have another agenda, and it has nothing to do with recognizing a great boxer. Okie-doke, if he's a chicken, name a guy in the same weight class witha better resume...In fact, go ahead name a boxer in any weight class that has fought and defeated more big names than De La Hoya?
Chavez,Camacho, Whitaker,Rivera, Carr, Quartey,Trinidad, Vargas, Gatti, Mosely........please bro, not a chicken, be honest with yourself.

Oscar is A HOf and he fought the best fighter at the right time, And he demands so much that sometimes itr dont be rematches like ike and stuff, nhe demaded 14mil even tho shane beated him the first time and shane only got 1.5mil that goes to show you what a warrior shane is because i bet u no other fighter would accept that.
And he ran from Wright. |
