Mobile Development Question

Before asking this I want to say this game is incredible and always has been. Easily a top 5 game I've ever played on mobile. I have been playing since back when it was called iOOTP and then MLB Manager. That being said, I can't help but think besides some features here and there, the game is generally the same as it was all those years ago when I first played iOOTP for hours on end. This trend seems to hold with other mobile games in this genre as well. Meanwhile the computer game and other sports manager PC games have improved significantly. Which leads me to my question. Is there something about mobile devices that just hasn't allowed mobile games to get much more deep or complex than they were a decade ago? Again absolutely amazing game that I will continue playing every year but I was just curious.
