Player options issue

Having an issue with options in ootp27 (don't remember this happening in the past). If I add a player to 40 man but don't option them (for example september call ups), they still use an option for that year. Not sure when it happens exactly. It even happens if I they aren't called up at all, just added to 40 man, I added George Lombard Jr to 40 in August, didn't call him up, an option year was used, I added Chase Hampton & Yanquiel Fernandez to 40 in August, called them up, didn't send them down, option year was used. I have 40 man roster control set to manual so AI shouldn't be messing with it. Wondering if there's a bug causing option year to burn when playoff roster is set? I don't know, didn't have this issue before this year.

For the Lombard case, that is appropriate*. If you are on the 40 and in the minors you are on an optional assignment. In his case why did you add him to the 40 at all if you weren't putting him on the active roster?

For the others, did you call them up the same day they were added to the 40?

*At least this is my understanding of how it should work. I never randomly add players to the 40 during the course of the season without actually placing them on the active roster.

Was going to call up lombard but then he got hurt, called them up a few days after adding them, guess that might be it.

Other than placing a player on the 40 right before September for potential playoff eligibility (if using that rule), there's no reason to add players during the season unless they're being placed on the active roster (which happens automatically when promoted).
