Honoring Eric Thames’ 2015 Season More Accurately in Perfect Team
Dear OOTP Development Team and Community,
First, I’d like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the inclusion of KBO season cards in Perfect Team mode. As a Korean baseball fan and OOTP player, it’s truly an honor and a joy to see this representation in the game. The release of Eric Thames’ 2015 “Immortal Season” card is especially meaningful—it commemorates one of the most dominant and unforgettable seasons in KBO history. However, I’d like to respectfully raise a concern regarding the card’s fielding ratings, particularly the first base rating of 40, which seems inconsistent with his actual performance during that season. Eric Thames in 2015 – A Complete Player, Not Just a Slugger In 2015, Thames posted a historic stat line with the NC Dinos: .381 AVG / 47 HR / 40 SB / 1.288 OPS, becoming the first player in KBO history to join the 40–40 club. But beyond his offensive explosion, he was also a reliable and impactful defender, especially at first base. Key Defensive Metrics (2015 KBO Season) - Fielding Innings: 1,010 - Total Chances (TC): 1,008 - Errors: Only 4 - Fielding Percentage: .996 - Range Factor per 9 Innings (RF/9): 8.95 - RAA (Runs Above Average): +5.10 - KBO Golden Glove Winner (1B) – the first foreign player to win the award at that position These numbers reflect not just competence, but elite-level consistency and reliability. His fielding percentage and range factor were among the best in the league, and his Golden Glove win was a testament to how coaches, media, and fans viewed his defensive contributions. In-Game Ratings vs. Reality Currently, the OOTP 26 card assigns: - 1B Rating: 40 - Infield Range, Throwing, DP Ratings: All in the 20s - Outfield Ratings: LF 87 / RF 81 While the outfield ratings may reflect his MLB career post-KBO, it’s important to note that in 2015, Thames was primarily a first baseman, and his defense at that position was a key part of his MVP-caliber season. This proposal isn’t about inflating numbers—it’s about accurately honoring a historic season. Eric Thames in 2015 wasn’t just a slugger; he was a complete player, and his defensive value deserves to be reflected in-game. Adjusting his first base rating would allow players to experience the full scope of what made that season truly “Immortal.” Once again, thank you for bringing KBO into Perfect Team. It’s a proud moment for Korean baseball fans, and I hope this feedback helps further enrich the experience for all players. Eric Thames’ 2015 season wasn’t just statistically dominant—it was legendary, and KBO fans remember it with deep admiration. Warm regards, |
