Can someone explain Players on Loan?

What does players on loan mean? I just noticed it after completing a draft that three of them are in the drop down Players on Loan. I have no idea what this means.

Thanks

That is when players go play in tournaments, like the WBC, Arizona League, things like that.

So right after the draft, players on loan are playing in the Draft League? Is the Draft League in real life, new? What exactly is the Draft League and is that an optional league for draftees to develop in?

Thanks

I asked Google Gemini AI about it and this is the first paragraph of its reply:
The MLB Draft League is a baseball league that began play in 2021, created by Major League Baseball (MLB) and Prep Baseball Report (PBR). It serves as a showcase for top amateur and draft-eligible players, as well as a developmental platform for professional players.

Carplos' link is also very useful!

The draft league, Cape Code and Prospects came from the great MIB purge of 2020.

Interesting that it's labeled as on loan, hopefully this will lead to a real loan system like football where you can loan prospects to other teams/leagues to play and develop if they can't with you

Say what?

The Cape Cod league has been around since the 1920s.

The Prospect League has been around since the late 00s and a league it morphed from much further back. They did add a couple expansion teams from the purge, but it wasn't a new league.

IIRC the Draft League is the only one that has any ties to Major League Baseball. The other two are wholly independent.

But templates for both the CCL and NWL allow for easy implementation in OOTP 26. 😜

Oh, and RIP New York — Penn League

And if you create a fictional DL in OOTP 26, you can still set it to draw players from Short Season A ball, which doesn’t exist unless you recreate it manually.
