Awkward Personnel Handling or Bug?
I play as GM only in a fictional league. I had a LEGENDARY manager and pitching coach with whom I won four titles in nine years. Normally I extend staff contracts before they expire but this past season I forgot.
To my surprise, both of them were no longer interested. They were highly paid and very successful so I was very surprised. I decided to promote by bench coach to manager but then I encountered a possible bug or weird situation. I needed a few pitching coaches for Rookie, A and AA ball and was shocked to see my former pitching coach as interested in these positions. I opened up his profile and he was still uninterested in working at the major league level and was willing to take a drastic pay cut. This didn't make sense to me so I offered him a major league salary which he accepted and then I was immediately able to transfer him to my major league team. I know other staff will reject transfers to other positions in the organization so if he was so adamant that he didn't want to work at the major league level, the transfer should have been rejected. I still don't understand the logic behind the whole situation. |

i doubt that's the intent... so, enjoy it while it lasts
![]() sounds like a good idea each year is to fire one minor league coach and see which high-end coaches are interested. (if one isn't leaving.) an exploit if you do it to an abusive scale, but like you said, you won a bunch of titles with them. rarely do coaches leave with such success, unless they see a dumpster fire on the horizon. i wouldn't feel scummy for doing it with my current coaches, if they normally re-sign extensions, but i forgot one year and ended up in same situation as you. i don't think pesonality conflicts with the GM are modeled in ootp? could look into other stuff like relationships with the players, but that's all a guess as to whether it is actually important to re-signing a coach.
