Something wrong with Kris Bryant?

I have made numerous saves and despite his fantastic power ratings he never hits over 25 home runs or over .250. This has been in 5 or 6 saves that I have run attempting to find out if this was just an anomaly, but he continues to simply suck.

In my current save, in 2017, Bryant hit 37 home runs with 105 RBI, and in 2018, he hit 41 home runs and 114 RBIs.

have only made it through one year, but last year Bryant hit .264/.353/.537, 40-111.

i don't think his ratings have gone down since last year have they?

he k's a lot, if i recall? they can have down years.. the #'s from the last couple posts don't look so bad.. i've seen him be a monster, too.

pop comissioner mode on and see what his ratings look like. the editor's estimates don't necessarily translate 1:1 for your league, fyi. however, if you use somewhat similar settings each time you can have a good idea... maybe HR -5% as a guideline, for example (made up #).

if you didn't auto-calc the LTM's, try that.

as you transition to fictional players, you'll want to click it more often as they filter in at a faster rate and many real players still around. you have 'real' amatuers for a few years at least.. then i usually see a really crappy draft or 2, then it ramps up.

I'm kind of new to this stuff but is this necessary in all leagues? How does it help?

Also Bryant has always turned out to be a stud in my sims. Just ran one where he hit 39 in 2017, 52! in 2018, and 49 in 2019.

In one save not to far back he ended his career with 650 or so.

In my save, his 2025 was his worst season, with only 32 HRs, although only due to his injury of 2 months (his longest ever injury). 2017 was the lowest average at .280

Currently still one of the league's premier players, he is sitting on career figures of 486 HRs, .292 AVG part way through 2026

22tbrads:

League Total Modifier -- located under League Settings -> Stats and AI tab

(you'll see it - most of the right side of the screen, if 1080p.)

that, plus the left side of that screeen control a significant part of your league's statsistical environment.

These simply adjust results in an intuitive way... **don't try to change range of results by changing the League Totals values unless you do the whole set and it jives together, mathematically (* this would require an auto-calc or something similar, if you change the LTs). so, if oyu want 10% more HR, take that LTM=x... new value = 1.1x.

Bears: (meh, chicago bears... how's cutler doing )

not much is required.. but, if you don't the results those first 30 years or so will scale in a very similar way every single time... so it's not really a random thing. it's quite predictable.

auto-calc simply callibrates the current level of talent in the league to ~roughly hit the League Totals on that screen... (unless you adjust the LTM to be 10% higher like the example given above... if oyu do that, you must bump those AFTER auto-calcing to achieve what you want)

since the distribution of real vs fictional talent is a bit different, this keeps it from deviating extreme distances from the league baseline as given by the League Totals and LTMs that callibrates it.

maybe you want that? then, definitely don't auto-calc (although at least 1 time is a good idea) ** And, do it opening day for best resutls before any game as played.

basic rundown of Auto-calc in EVERY other situation...

if talent is low: it will make that low level of talent likely to hit the baseline -- So, if talent can only go up from there (normal range of deviation), then stats can only go up from there... in this instance when you click autocalc, you actually set that as the "Floor" for your league...

you can extrapolate the rest.. ie if average, you set it right about average,,, if high in talent, it's will drop as much as the first example had risen.

So, once past any transition (real players or era-to-era or seed players), clicking it once and ignoring it isn't going to have the same type of ramifcations... you still may want to make some small adjustments as you play and observe results, though.

Im seeing something similar with mike trout, many saves he has just been an above average player, rarely on allstar level, let alone mvp. Anyone else seeing this?

Great post! I play the MLB Quickstart almost exclusively. Would you advocate doing an Auto-Calc every Opening Day? Once every 5 years? What is your take on frequency needed to keep the league in line with the baselines yet still evolving?

I actually have seen Mike Trout struggle and not really be himself in my last few saves too. I'm guessing just completely random

Randomness is what makes this game so much fun. Without it the game would be boring.. at least IMHO.
