If You've Done Any Promo/Rel (opinions wanted)
So I don't want this to be a "Why isn't there Promo/Rel?" because that's not what I'm after.
What I would like to know is how it worked/didn't work for you? I was able to find a pretty good way of doing it that even allowed minor leagues (Use two subleagues and two divisions, no inter-league play, and start off by adjusting budgets and stadium size in each "tier." Minor leagues never have an issue, because they're all in the same League, as the game defines it.)
My issue wasn't teams misunderstanding getting relegated, because I keep trading at low as a personal preference. Teams weren't selling off. The bigger problem was that for the extra work it required, lots of teams did the pinball thing of going down/up/down. A few sunk like a rock or rose like a meteor, which was cool enough, but overall, in testing (and playing), it just didn't do much for me.
In reading extensively about promo/rel, and looking at tables from football, it does seem like the theory of "anyone can win it" isn't as strong as the practice. Yes, exceptions happen, but stadium size and budget end up trumping things, and the year-to-year aberrations don't stick, which kinda ruins the fun.
To me, seeing roughly 6 teams at each level fight for the bottom/top just didn't click.
So I'm curious--if you also did promo/rel, was or is the experience Satisfying to you?
