Frustrating personel hiring
Is it just me or is the personel hiring broke a bit? Im giving them what they want and they want more. Im giving them MUCH more (like 1.4 million when they are asking 200k's) with the same year as they want.....and they accept to go to another team....for 200k's! Very upsetting.
Any feedback? Thx Dave On a positive note: besides that the game is so far so great! |

I have offered countless coaches what they wanted just to have them not sign. It would be nice to at least get an email saying they rejected it. There is something definitely wrong.
Replacing an existing scout is excruciating too. |

Agreed. At this point, I just go into commissioner mode and get the guy I want. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon so I won't have to do that!

Hiring personnel is not broken. Maybe I can help...
First, remember that when you offer a contract, it's only an offer. The coach has to consider the offer before signing. He's not walking into Best Buy and buying a tv. Second, it is true that his repeated contract demand states his ORIGINAL contract demand, and I have inquired about that too. But look at it from this perspective: A coach may not want to tell you what he's been offered elsewhere. This is a real life scenario, where you, the GM, are trying to bring in a great coach, but he's been offered another, if not several, other contracts which he's mulling over. I'd love to see this changed in the game, so that your latest offer is what he's basing his decision on, but we'll have to wait to see if that happens. Third, if you offer a $gazillion for a coach, but he signs elsewhere for $200K, is it because he signed for a lower amount to coach in the Major Leagues? Was your contract offer to coach in the minors? I've noticed that some coaches do accept positions for less that my latest offer, but they've all been coaching in the Majors. If not, then we might be talking about having to look at the game logic, of course. It would make no sense to offer $1 million for 3 years, and have the coach sign with another team for $200K for the same 3 years. My advice: Make high offers to the best coaches you really need, but don't make too many offers in the same day. Keep it to 2, maximum. |

With all due respect, enough people have brought up this same issue to the point that I have to believe that hiring personnel is indeed broken in OOTP15. Not completely, just a little.
The general consensus is that you have to offer a contract to ONE coach at a time. Wait until he signs or otherwise responds before offering the next contract. It sucks, but for some reason, the game seems to go wonky when you've got multiple personnel offers on the table - they will all tell you they want more money, regardless of how much you've offered them. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...g-coaches.html |

This is expected to be addressed in the official patch #2.

This is 100% bugged. From a different thread I found that if you only offer 1 coach a contract at a time, you get all emails and they reply in normal manner. Trying to sign more then 2 at a time bugs out every time.
Hope this helps. |

on the subject of staff.... can an 'expiring contract' mail message be generated (ala Football Manager, which gives a '6 months to end of contract' message for players), so you don't lose track of all the staff in the organization and have good ones slip away?
wouldn't be so bad if you could just offer them another contract and have them actually consider it, but once their contract expires in OOTP, they won't work for you again (at least that's been my experience so far). |

The upcoming patch has addressed this issue, and the hiring of coaches now works as expected. Some coaches are easier to sign than others, and you can make multiple offers on the same day. You'll get a response from them as you'd expect.
Some coaches still ask for more money, so check your pending offers screen.
