Editing Player Stats

For some reason I missed it somewhere in the forums? Or it's just the fact that nobody has it in their title line... But I am wondering how do we edit the stats of players? I'm pretty sure I was able to put in what stats I wanted players to have in ootp13. But for some reason I can't edit it now? What gives? What am i missing? Thanks

Do you mean stats for past years or stat projections and ratings that will effect how they perform?

Don't feel bad. There's a lot to remember about this game.

Is there a way to edit stats for past years?

No. They are what they are. No changing the historical record.

Yes you can edit those. Go to Setup & Options then League Setup. Click Export Stats in the bottom right. Three files will show up in your "import-export" folder within your game's save folder in My Documents. Open them in Excel, edit them, and save as CSV files. Then re-import them from the same screen. Pretty simple but somewhat time-consuming.

Make sure you use Excel, editing these in Open Office will mess up your league, or i just suck at doing this.

I never use Open Office. Whenever someone sends me a file with that, my desktop Office always has a problem opening it on my computer. I don't think those two versions are as compatible as Microsoft says they are.

They dont seem to be. I have issues opening up files like Gambo's 2011 Seating chart and the Master.cvs is various DB's. it doesn't display properly.

It can be done in OO, no problems. That's what Bigrod uses and he's the stats master.

I guess I thought he meant changing them in-game. I forgot about export/import.

Open office is all I use and I've edited thousands of stats...I did every minor leaguer + this year for ootp 14 around 5,000 players..sent them to Markus and he imported them..
So Open office definately works..I also use it exclusively for the game's schedules. Excel is what sucks..that's why I quit that years ago.
Some of the guys that help me use excel..I create the template in OO and convert it to excel for them and they have had no problems at all.. they send it back to me in excel and OO has no problems with those either.

It might just be something else on my computer's settings that hates using Open Office. I also have problems with Firefox opening Flash components on websites sometimes.

Could be they don't convert the ods file to the correct excel version..I think there's 3 possibilities..just a thought.

Yeah I've used Notepad, too. I just find Excel to be quicker and more user-friendly.
