Intentional Wild Pitch

Has this ever happened before? Over 100 years I'm sure it has...but has anyone ever lost a game because of it?

I'll get the link to the video up as soon as its available.

Tonight (6/26) the M's won because the pitcher was intentionally walking Carlos Peguero in a 1 to 1 game in the 10th inning.

It sounds like a cheap way to win a game until you look at Dustin Ackley's performance in that inning. First he hit a double...then he took 3rd on a fly ball that 75% of runners wouldn't try and 90% of those would get thrown out on... Then he was alert enough (during an intentional walk...not the first pitch out of it) to burst home even though the catcher deflected it a bit and the pitcher covered home immediately.

Just wondering if this was a first because I'm guessing the announcers had to have time to look it up too, but they didn't. Its a vague situation. Something I thought I'd never see.

It happened in an indy league game a couple of years ago:

YouTube - ‪Unintentional-Intentional Walk-off‬‏

I think there was a thread about that.

The runner would have been out had the pitcher caught the catcher's toss cleanly - you can see in the replay he took his eye off the ball.

Scoring on a wild intentional walk pitch isn't all that uncommon. It happened just last month, in fact. This one looks even more comical; I mean, you really have to be wild to throw a wild intentional walk pitch!

But winning a game on a walk-off play like this? Nope, can't say I ever saw that myself.
