Spot is a good guy and they run a solid league over here. The Totems were once my team back in the day, so someone good needs to step in and take charge of them.

![]() Your former team is on the verge of big things. They have an outstanding rotation, led by one of the the league's few legit aces, 24-year-old lefty Bobby Evans. They also have a trio of young stars in Chris Larsen, Jesus Franco, and backstop Austin Watkins. Best of all, they have a whopping $43 M to spend on free agents. It would be a very good time for someone to take over the Totems. The other open team, Las Vegas, has a proud tradition as winners of the first two Cartwright Classics, but has fallen far over the last few seasons as a series of GM's have come and gone through Sin City. The good news is some of their young pitchers are starting to look like major leaguers and there's some very good prospects on the horizon (#2 rated farm system).

As we approach the midway point of the 2003 season (our 11th year) the PCBL isn't getting older, it's getting better. It's just a great league, whether you're a first-timer or are in a dozen online leagues.
Spot does a great job as commish and, if I can pat myself on the back, I work very hard on graphics stuff like ballpark images, championship banners, alternate uniforms, etc. to make sure the league has a unique look. There's usually a bit of chatter, and friendly smacktalk, on the boards as most of us have been together for a while now (in most cases, at least a half-dozen seasons or two years IRL) but I think you'll find we're always glad to welcome a new member into the fold. Here's the lowdown on the 2 open teams: Gainesville Gators- one of the league's proudest franchises, the Gators won the Gulf Division four straight times from '96 to '99 and captured the '97 Cartwright Classic in what many experts consider the greatest series in PCBL history. They've been in rebuilding mode for the last couple of seasons but appear ready to turn the corner this season. Led by young phenom Tony Henley, who's having a stellar season out of the bullpen, and slugging 3B Gabriel Fontenot, the Gators are in the thick of the Wild Card hunt and once again have The Swamp rocking. Mount Airy Marauders- a team that's underacheiving this season but will benefit greatly from a human touch. The Marauders turned the PCBL on it's ear in '01 by winning the tough Atlantic Division and advancing all the way to the LCS but injuries robbed them of a playoff berth last season. They still have two of the league's best starters in Sam Turner and Ramon Gonzalez, owner of a very solid 3.08 ERA but, because of the Marauders' offensive woes, a hard-luck 1-7 record, so whoever takes over will have a couple of very valuable assets to build around or use as trade-bait. Send a PM to Spot or myself if you're interested. Thanks.
