40-man-rosters not complete

Why are the 40-man-rosters in the current version incomplete? Opening day was one month ago.

Teams don’t always initially hold 40 on it. You’ll tend to see it more when teams want to protect guys from the rule 5 etc. but there isn’t always a set 40 on every team

I tend to always try and leave a handful off if possible to respond to injuries or rule 5 protection etc

The AI is not going to always 100% of the time reflect real life with the 40 man. OOTP/OSA ratings will be different. For instance Player A could be on the 40 man, but, the AI thinks he is worse than Player B, who is not. So when you load the game in, Player B is on the 40 man.

I believe the devs have said they don't fill the real 40-man rosters up because otherwise the CPU teams will be jettisoning players en masse on waivers bc it doesn't always value players the same as the real teams do. It's a middle ground step to keep them in the organization.

I always fill my 40-man up manually.

That is disappointing to say the least. Killing the game for me when no team has more than 30 guys on the 40-man roster.

How long does it take for you to set it up? Must have been hours.

I'm no doubt acting like a control freak, but I actually value making the decisions for the last few roster spots for the teams. It is not as labor-intensive as you might think, at least for modern teams where you will know most to the players and readily make decisions. I actually prefer having a few spots to fill - as opposed to having to undue bad decisions by the AI and forcing guys onto waivers or DFA. I tend to accelerate the development variables (and aging as well), so I put young guys on the 40-man and often the active roster before MLB teams would.

If that's the case, it's disappointing to hear that they decided upon a lazy half-measure rather than, you know, improving the performance of the AI.
