Fight Card Gauvin v Bernier with Babe Beatty v Hub Parker at the Newport, VT Armory....
Came across this and clipped it then think maybe I didn't post it. Thought interesting to see these fight cards in the old newspapers.

Cap, I'm going through my whole write up of Gauvin. I think I'd found through the length of his career, least I hope by what I found. I'm proofing back through it and putting after each fight a running total of his career and I'll post that at the top of the Txt bio. I'll see If I can save that as a TXT to post to the thread here that you can pull off and go through. So maybe you'd want to wait posting anything else on BoxRec for him till I post this Txt? Up to you.

Well, I stumbled on another fight between Gauvin and Nick "Bat" Mazzola on Feb 2nd 1937. I'll get the details of this in the gauvin text. So again, you may want to wait Cap doing anything more on BoxRec for Gauvin till I finish this?

Yes it is. It's one of my first choices when I search for basic information like birthdays, etc. Registration is free.

Attached is just his TXT file of all my accumulated notes from Newpapers. Anything anyone finds doesn't look correct just let me know and I'll fix.
The record here is what totals up from the fight records I found in the online newspapers.

Next I'll work on his TB rating. shouldn't take too long. He's a slugger, strong guy but stamina not very good and defense lacking. Made a name for himself locally but that was all. This was quite a diversion from my project road map I'd layed out, but I really enjoyed digging into and finding new stuff about Gauvin. Next will be finishing looking at Beatty/Beattie after I get Gauvin's rating done.

Nice. I love obscure guys like Gauvin. From what I've read of him, I picture him as around a high 2 or a low 3. Am I correct?

Mmmmm....My initial plug in of rating numbers has him a 0, but I've not play tested that yet. I really don't see him much more than 1 and really doubt that. Most of what he fought were mostly 0's themselves. I'm actually doing some quick ratings of all of Gauvin's opponents and I'll do some testing of them with Gauvin's rating. See what happens.

Nick Mazzola, That Bat that is used in BoxRec currently I've found no reference in a paper using that. I've found his name is Nicholas Mazzola and I found a grave site for Nicholas C. Mazzola that I'm pretty confident is our boxer Mazzola. So I'm doing up a rating and text log for him also. From what I could find in the newspapers his career was not very long and not many fights so should be able to get him finished tomorrow and post up some file for him. I'd started Beattie before I jumped on Gauvin so I want to finish him also. Thought it might me cool to post ratings for all of Gauvin's opponents.

Here is Nick Mazzola. His Txt notes in the Rating file are updated some from what I attached to this thread yesterday. Had missed the fight in 1941 with Gauvin and updated his "Career Record" (mostly against Gauvin!).
His file in BoxRec where he is listed as Bat Mazzola I would change to Nick Mazzola. I did not find anything to do with this Bat. I'm thinking it had something to do with his military group assignment? But I didn't run across any article for.

BTW.....I forgot to mention with the last post of Nick Mazzola's rating that I realized I duplicated the Fri, Jan 3, 1941 fight that Mazzola won TKO over Gauvin. That's the fight shown on Gauvin's current BoxRec file.

From his text notes file I'll be deleting this entry I showed on Jan 23, 1941 talking about the Jan 1, 1941 fight between the two.
So Gauvin's finished career record comes up to W(13(KO 9) / L8(KO 7) / D2

I'll be getting a rating with his text note sometime today. Sorry for that mistake duplicating that.

Yes, thats Kid Demers. The text says that he is scheduled to box a Joe Frechette tomorrow. This bout is not registered in Boxrec. Joe Frechette has to be this guy:

For Babe Beattie here is another fight I found in 1945 for him that is not shown on his current BoxRec record.

Wed, Oct 10, 1945, Saint John Times Globe, Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada - Tuesday night in the main event at The Saint Johns Forum Tommy Northrup put away Montreal's Babe Beattie in two rounds. Beattie was floored three times when his seconds threw in the towel just as the bell went to end the round. The Friday, Oct 05, 1945 Telegraph-Journal in Saint John noted this fight was a scheduled 8 rounds.
