No Middle Relievers

I adopted a new game management policy: SPs pitch until they're tired. Getting shelled won't get them out of the game.

I'm thinking of having all my pitchers as starters, best 6 make the rotation. Each goes 6+ innings no matter what, the others get used as stopers and finish the game.

I'm still a 5-6-7 guy. You're gonna give me 5 innings or 5 runs if you're in the rotation, but I expect 6 out of them. 7 is wavy gravy. 8 or 9 innings if you have a shutout or something special going on. Good to see lots of pitchers this season on target for 180+ innings and about a dozen on track for 200+.

I recently had Ed Whitson give up seven runs in the bottom of the second. I left him in. He wasn't tired. When he gave up another two runs in the bottom of the fourth I figured the game was out of reach at 9-2 so I left him in. Pitch until you're tired guys! I'm not wasting bullpen arms on a game you've already blown.
