The Playhouse League is back!

Well.... if you remember, I tried remaking the Playhouse League after getting impatient with waiting for them to recover the drive from the computer that burnt in the fire so I remade it with new teams and such but then I accidentally DELETED that league last month, so here is the original one, finally from the original recovered drive. Honestly I forgot bout half the stuff that was in it until now. For those who made logos for the remake one, don't worry, I will add in those teams over time, but this is for the inaugural season. The teams are divided into the "David" and "Goliath" leagues, with the David League consisting of teams from smaller cities and towns, while the Goliath League is full of teams from bigger cities.

PS I am the owner of the Milford Old Dolls, which is the team I will be using in this simulation.

Random thing prior to spring training - Team charity!

Well this was completely out of nowhere but hey I didn't wanna be a jerk so I said sure why not to this. (Yes I am the GM and I also have a younger version of myself playing on the team, based on my years of college ball at Penn State with a FaceGen by Lans himself.)

Some info

Spring training went alright for the Dolls but not amazing, placing 3rd in the David League in advance of Opening Day 1837. Here is a list of the top systems for each team from before.

April 4-6 Series against Toronto Noot-Noots

The Dolls won the first game of the series against Toronto on April 4. That was also apparently the game that I made my debut in and went 0-2 at the plate and sac bunted someone over to second at one point. Sadly we lost the next 2 games. We currently have a 4-2 record, tied for 1st place in the David League, with the Dalton Freaks and Hartford Dancing Mice. This is still a better record than every team in the Goliath League has, except for the Philadelphia Bobbies, who are 6-0. How long their undefeated record will last is yet to be seen. Their star pitcher Larry Corcoran hurt his leg and is listed as 'day-to-day' status so it's likely not serious.

Series against the Hartford Dancing Mice April 7-9, 1837

We won 2 out of the 3 games with Smoky Joe Wood and Dave Koslo shutting out the Mice in back to back games on the 7th and 8th. On the 9th however, the Mice came back and won thanks to Jim O'Rourke who scored 3 runs and also hit a triple, helping to lead Hartford reliever, Pembroke Finlayson to the win.

Here is some more news from around the league. Colby Rasmus of the New York Knickerbockers is the player of the week!

April 10-12 series against the Worcester Ruby Legs

The Dolls have swept the Worcester Ruby Legs!

Here is some more news from throughout the league. Also the Philadelphia Bobbies have finally lost a game, but that doesn't seem to be a big deal as they are currently 11-1 and still sitting in first place in the Goliath League. The Boston Babies are really struggling as they not only sit in last place in the Goliath League, but have the most losses and least wins of every team in the entire Playhouse League (2-10).

After sweeping Worcester, the Dolls have jumped up to first place in the David League, taking the spot from their small town Pennsylvania home state rival, the Dalton Freaks, who were briefly holding it for a few days now.

We have tomorrow off but a series against the Lynchburg Hunny Bears the next day.

Unsurprisingly, Frankenstein's Monster holds this record since he's 10 feet tall and also an unnaturally large monster

April 14-16 series against the Lynchburg Hunny Bears

April 14 was a heartbreaker. The Dolls lost 2-1 to the Hunny Bears in the 12th inning, after starters Joe Wood and Kevin Rivera both pitched a great game of baseball. The Dolls struck first in the bottom of the 1st inning after Marina Tsvetaeva knocked a single to bring in Siouxsie from third base for the team's only run of the game. In the 7th Bub McAtee knocked a single to let Bill Craver score for Lynchburg with Dave Koslo now on the mound for Milford. Anthony McQuide took the mound for the Bears and didn't allow much offense. The game went into extra innings and in the 12th, with the bases loaded, Jimmy Hallinan drew a walk to make the score 2-1. McQuide pitched the final half inning in which the Dolls couldn't come up with anything and that was it.

On a more happy note, the Dolls ended up taking the series and beating the Bears by a score of 6-2 in both games actually. Koslo pitched the next day and did well and Joe Wood got the win in the other one.

Here is more news from throughout the league:

April 17-19 series against the Keokuk Outlaws

The Outlaws got swept by the Dolls and surrendered upward of 20 runs on two of the three games in the series. The scores were 11-1 (April 17), 20-0 (April 18), and 24-4 (April 19). While Keokuk's entire pitching staff, consisting of Axl Heck, Luis Mendoza, and Garrett Mock were not super impressive during this stretch, 35 of the 55 earned runs given up by the Outlaws were all at the hand of Garrett Mock.

With this series complete, the Dolls have a record of 14-4, which is now tied for 1st place in the entire Playhouse League with the Philadelphia Bobbies, who they will face in the very next series!

Other league news of the week (not much)

This is the only other thing they found newsworthy apparently as we seem to be the big front headline after this last series.

April 20-22 series against the Philadelphia Bobbies

The Dolls lost 2 of the 3 games of this series to the Philadelphia Bobbies. The Toronto Noot-Noots are tied for 1st place in both the Goliath League and the entire Playhouse League with the Bobbies who have a record of 16-5. The Dolls are still in 1st in the David League with a record of 15-6.

With the Noot-Noots offense going nuts lately, it is worth mentioning that center fielder Ross Turetsky also has a nice 20-game hitting streak going on. It seems like this team is quickly becoming a threat around the league.

More news: Fred Sanford of the Dalton Freaks apparently started a brawl after mouthing off at the Hartford Dancing Mice but it would appear no one received any kind of suspensions or anything for it.

And here is some more news and headlines:

April 23-25 series against the Dalton Freaks

The Dolls beat the Freaks in 2 out of the 3 games in the series and the tie for first place in the entire league is still held by Philadelphia and Toronto, now both 19-5. The Dolls are still in 1st in the David League with a record of 17-7. The San Francisco Seals also got desperate in a game they were losing badly to the New York Knickerbockers and decided to let their right fielder Pony Sager pitch... this did not go well at all.
