Maybe I shouldn't have chosen Biggio
I chose Craig Biggio as my pre-order bonus but he hasn't been a part of any mission yet, unlike Dave Winfield (3) and Tim Raines (1). I appears that Jim Palmer hasn't either. I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake in choosing (he's been a good player but those 75 points are going to waste) and I feel that those of us who chose Biggio or Palmer are getting the shaft.

I (obviously) took the Biggio card too. It's performs ok but feels way underpowered compared to the others. The Rod Carew card on the other hand, go look at PT records and the Carew card leads in average down the board. It's kind of OP.

My Rod Carew is one of my best for hits per season I've ever had. He's doing at least average even in Low Diamond.
I actually pulled a variant Biggio in a pack. Not very valuable, even as variant, so I have him as a backup now. |

Consensus early on was that Biggio was better than Carew, which I couldn't understand. Both of them are ordinary defensive players (good range but un-good turn DP). Biggio has the edge in power and eye, but Carew is a hit machine. Great traditional two-slot guy with speed, bunting, sneaky power, low GIDP, very low K. I've had him on my main team, which has spent almost the entire cycle in Low Diamond and High Gold. 14 seasons (including the current partial). Over 1000 runs scored and approaching 1000 RBI. 155 home runs, which is double-digit power. Almost 700 XBH. Good investment, especially since he plays almost every game and doesn't suffer at all against lefty pitching.
That said, Biggio is bound to pop up in a mission eventually. Some of last year's opening-week bonus players took a while, but they all got in somewhere. Even with this year's dial-back on missions, I'd be shocked if a HOF Plaque card doesn't find a mission. |

So, the best choice was Dave Winfield from the initial reward pack?

On my free to play team, Dave Winfield's doing pretty well. Hits, triples, some HR, RBI. Mostly in bronze.

Just sold my Winfield after 3 bad years in a row. the 17K net worth far more than the player. Torii Hunter plays the outfield just as good and has the same .240 BA.
