Perfect Team: Variant Boosting page expansion
Variant Boosting Expansion / HQ suggestions
Information and some functionality is currently spread out or added in to existing pages. (card shop variant relations filter, manage card vrel, add to etc or the Variant boosting page) Overall, it seems difficult to identify variant point values and food options. Some features are also hard to use like the card shop filter LONG SCROLL is painful to select your combinator/variant when you have a lot of them. The variant page has improved with two drill down menus for tier and level.. that is a bonus but a table format(sortable) might be better and expanding the variant boost page entirely to become the headquarters for variant boosting information and food acquisition. Possibly future version the game could continue integrating features of the market to make a hybrid market/boost page for the variants with all the tools in one place and which managers have requested.... like locks/sort/bulkbuy/etc. There isn't a lot of room for variant specific expansion in the existing card market or manage cards. Just playing around, easier popped on photoshop than programmed but just functionality brainstorming, see screenshots. You'd still have to select your items but doing so and the acquisition of boost food would be easier in this example. It's likely a challenge to give all the functionality without making it too complex either but food for thought. - some filter additions and addition of a field "boost value" to reflect points per pp - an automated bulk purchase option could even be created with the pt to pp ration as the input. see screenshot - provide bulk buy options - ability to view variant point values for unowned cards - hide locked / hide on tournament roster Ideally variants should have a larger food value,, especially since supply could be less due to variant quicksell now possible.... or at very least create a modifier to special boosters for NeL and FL etc so the entire wonderful card database can be exciting in a VE world for players that pull or enjoy teams in those constructions.. - a large increase to lower tier variant food point values? (iron-silver, maybe gold too) 100,200,500,1000 too low Related - other food options? boost packs? clubhouse options? https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=355800 - ability to lock cards so they cannot be eaten and tournament rosters easier to keep in tact. (should mission locked cards even be food? locked is locked no?) https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=359218 Variant Table Select vs dropdown/popup select All levels dropdown is great to filter tiers but it will still be very hard to see which variants are which. What level and what points submitted and remaining.. which ones have investment, which don't. Also nice to see level 5/complete when a friend or community asks how hard is something to boost. Add table format w/ select.. list submitted points, required points and percent? Just an idea.

Checking out the latest beta and continue to see all the VE functionality for manage cards which is great but I really hope the long term plan to improve the actually variant boost page to help the wider playerbase understand/enjoy variants.
MANAGE CARDS is amazing and I've made suggestions for it like including un-owned so we can view entire database for cards we need to buy during the building process or concept squads for roster builder planning cards we need to buy and giving the ability to compare against unowned cards etc etc etc. BUT manage cards really shouldnt be the SOLE or primary place to boost/view/interact with variants. I suspect most players have no idea how to use manage cards for managing variants or that the VREL or other fields even exist... Variant boosting should have it's own page / HQ developed if we want players to actually get the hang of them and to have room for improving the process of managing them vs chopping stuff in to manage cards or the shop. I would think the idea would be to make variants easier to understand/manage not advanced filter magic in manage cards for those in the know. While OOTP is basically a spreadsheet baseball sim,,, some features should definitely be given a special section or enhancement.. say like the dev lab for base game. It needed it's own page... variants should have their own page. Functionality is good... and manage cards can and should provide that but it is not intuitive. We've seen streamers struggle to demonstrate to their audience how to use variants.... filter confusion etc) and there is little documentation on all the filter/view/field tricks in manage cards. It surprises me that OOTP would add such an interesting but complex feature (combinators/variants) to Perfect Team then just bury how to manage/feed/use them in the manage cards screen for filter magic... some can surely figure out all those columns, field, views and how to accomplish things but it's not a great way to highlight or interact with variants or capture adoption from new/casual players. Variants deserve better than solely manage cards... they should be highlighted and given some attention and their own space/improved UI etc within the game to make it easier for adoption. Variants are really cool and fun concept but currently miserable part of the game in their usage. The variant boost page can give room to expand/evolve .. for example, bulk buy options, or further documentation (which is currently the only in-game place to explain variants) or better presentation of the variant concept but these cannot be buried in manage cards. The variant page hopefully is given some attention in the future so it can help the wider playerbase understand/enjoy variants... not just those that can figure out the filter/view/field/click magic in manage cards. Screen shot below just for referencing table UI view idea (though left represents ve selection on ve pgae and right is from beta the right click tag to add for boosting..... the issue is being able to read and present any info better)

variant boost page
- hide duplicates should hide one base. currently if you have a variant, it thinks all the base are duplicates. this means your tournaments will lose the base card because you feed it. especially important since many tourneys are variant capped. base and variant are not the same!! - variant page: needs hide on tournament roster checkbox. listing it under status is nice but checkmark filter needed - variant page: needs hide booster. some players have hundreds of boosters so you have to scroll a long way to get down your list - auction card from boost page of a locked card, will give locked warning but still produces a blank popup which forces you to manually close the game to get out of
