100+ ideas, suggestion, changes for a new version
I went through the idea/suggestion board and pulled these out. There are more, but due to my inability to summarize in a sentance or less with 5 seconds of looking at it, they got scrapped from my list. They are not in any particular order, and there are likely duplicates.
please add others... 1 Ability to play other positions 2 Ability to change positions 3 Choose your own height and weight (affecting performance?) 4 demand a trade 5 use salary for a 1-on-1 with a HOFer. (I presume to increase stats) 6 winter league and other leagues 7 side jobs 8 buy other stuff with money 9 choosing role (closer vs. MR) 10 custom leagues / multiplayer 11 change background to match your level (i.e. city type background when in the bigs) 12 Calander. (to show starts or days off) 13 in game "career vs. XXX" tracker. What pitches have worked in the past? 14 suspensions (for fights in the bar, hit batters, etc…) 15 post-playing career options (be a manager...). 16 an All-time team 17 each team to have an alltime team 18 choose outfielder position. 19 more than 25 on all time list. (selectable - want to see the top 10 or 100?) 20 all time playoff leaderboards. 21 minor league playoffs 22 minor league all-star game 23 all time minor league stats. 24 Active info (perhaps newspaper that says who got hurt, traded, called up, etc…) 25 Set preferences when looking for a team (was in the playoffs, needs a SS, losing key players, etc…) 26 relationship development (with coaches, media, players, etc…) 27 spring training 28 coach effects (playing for one that promotes the hit vs the HR, power vs. finesse pitching, etc. tweaks your stats) 29 vote on end of year awards or HOF 30 fielding stats, career all time, etc… 31 more control in game (like stealing, or if the coach say bunt, but you blow him off, hit a batter) 32 filter on bbay 33 illegal activities that may lead to suspensions and banning and no HOF (i.e. roids or gambling) 34 I'd like to know if I am on the trade block 35 input on who we get traded to 36 rumors 37 income leaderboard. 38 searching for past stat leaders, records, etc… is quite cumbersome. Lets just put in a year and get all that info. 39 split stats if you get traded (stats for each team you were on THEN the total for the season) 40 Career fielding leaders 41 Career stats should be sortable by position 42 awards stats (who has won the most pitcher/batter/fielding awards? Been an all-star the most, etc…) 43 top season performances 44 career stats like "most time led league in batting. x times" 45 team records (we should be able to see a summary of the teams success, WS appearances, titles, Div Champs, League champs, W/L) 46 During contract years have the manager contact you with offers. 47 List the top prices for rookie cards. By position… 48 FIX the promotion and demotion nonsense for pitchers. 49 Sim through FA period if you want to. 50 Something to improve EYE rating (glasses, sunglasses, contacts, etc…) 51 A list of books already read, or stop displaying books already read. 52 Many interview suggestions 53 advice from trainer to focus on a particular stat. 54 No trade clauses in contracts 55 Agent or someone to tell you what team is a good fit for you when you are looking 56 refusing assignments 57 incentives in contracts 58 end of year summary to look over while offseason is simmed 59 books for defense 60 more defense ratings (catching, arm strength, turning a DP,…) 61 ability to clear workout with one click 62 load 'saved' routines in the gym 63 stats for user, not player (most HR out of all characters, most wins, etc) 64 have a pitchers gym routine follow scheduled starts, not Mon - Sun. 65 auction results for ones you are involved in. 66 option to turn off the phone calls 67 ability to track other players, player comparisons 68 notification when we are outbid 69 fix the gymbag so what you can buy/win is not based on graphic on the screen 70 take over someone elses career (imported from OOTP) 71 retracting bids 72 let the GM give some more of days before fatigue becomes an issue and performance is hurt. 73 use a browse button for a league to import (don't want to type path) 74 global photo folder instead of one in each game folder (it is 40MB) 75 lists of HOFers 76 All decade teams, all century teams 77 refusing assignments / demotions 78 make gear wearout with corresponding stat decrease. Make them fixable. 79 keyboard shortcuts 80 have news correspond to your level (A, AAA, …) 81 All star game stats, records, etc… 82 nicknames 83 When injured our stats drop, if we have some kind of good news (sign a contract or some other random good thing like a child being born) our stats should pop up. 84 more complete stat recording listing. 85 let us customize what stats we see 86 hat logos look bad 87 rookie card prices out of whack 88 do something to recover from injuries faster (to get playing again and not have your stats hurt so badly by the time you do return. Maybe some AAA work) 89 ability to choose your hometown, so when you play there you get a boost from family and friends. 90 add diet to the gym. (If you want to bulk up for power, slim donw for speed, hit the focus enhancing for mood…) 91 choose pitches duting games 92 ability to cheat and of course get caught. 93 playoff mvps 94 WS mvps 95 intentional walks as a pitcher 96 have pitches mean something (how good are you with each pitch?...) 97 ability to adjust league settings (teams or city names, awards names…) 98 ability to turn of saving of boxscores and gamelogs (to speed it up) 99 As you become famous and great, be able to influence trade to and from your team. 100 auction alerts when an item becomes available. EDIT - Adding the other ideas from below to the main thread to keep it nice and neat. 101 Let us add a hometown to our characters 102 Make hitting/pitching style selectible or on a slider. One end being always play it safe and the other end "balls to the wall". With associated risks and benefits 103 Add a stat for game tying/go ahead/winning hits. 104 Inspired by #103, add a 'clutch' rating. 105 On BBay, make it easier to discern which fielding gloves are for IF, OF, C without having to actually open the each item. 106. Do not let Pitching Endurance go up automatically when you do NOT train it 107 For mercy's and sanity's sake, PLEASE fix the manager/pitcher promotion/demotion bug. 108. In support of our MAC using brothers and sisters, have a MAC version of ITP EDIT don't know why I am updating this... 109 answering machine to check calls later as opposed to turn it off altogether i.e. #66. Or an e-mail system where all msgs go, I can check when I want to so the game is not interrupted. 110 Input on when we are promoted from AAA to pros for the first time? I'd like to stay down to get a little better vefore hitting the pros. Really a mechanic to improve chances of getting RoY, which I found extremely difficult to do. In fact I never won it after hundreds of years and dozens of players (without exploits). It will come with negatives, perhaps lowball contract offers, hits to a 'clubhouse leader' or 'team player' rating, something along that line. 111 after being traded, show split stats by team for the season on the stat page. 112 where is my player on the leaders list when sims occuring? So when the season is simming, the top 3 players are showed in the 'big' statsoff to the sides. If my pitcher is not in the top 3, we should see perhaps something like this example for saves (7. Wig 30) under the top 3. In red like usual when our players appear on the list. 113 Be able to save without exiting, and be able to save multiple instances of same career, i.e. wig 1 and wig 2 in case 1 gets corrupted, or you know, 5 weeks of stats get erased, but the season date does not change, you can roll back to a good copy.

This is awesome. I hope if they ever do make another game it will include all of these.

I PM'd him about a week ago regarding ITP. No word yet.
Thought of a couple more suggestions: 101 Let us add a hometown to our characters (can we now? not sure). I look at other players and it says, for example, they are from the Dominican Republic, but my hometown on my HTML stats is blank. 102 Make hitting/pitching style selectible or on a slider. One end being always play it safe and the other end "balls to the wall". With associated risks and benefits. Maybe based on 'personality'. 103 Add a stat for game tieing/go ahead/winning hits. How do you spell 'tieing'? 104 Inspired by #103, add a 'clutch' rating.

It's tying and Markus refuses to respond to ITP 2 questions, we've tried many times. Try email or talking to Andreas or TC.

105 On BBay, make it easier to discern which fielding gloves are for IF, OF, C without having to actually open the each item. Would be nice to see required stats for shoes and bats on the first page as well.

Well I know the future of ITP 2, but I'm not sure if Markus wants me spreading it around yet.

I figure that the best route would be to make ITP an expansion/part of OOTP. That way all of the stats and management issues would be basically solved. It would allow for some immersion as well. You'll be able to see your player through scouring reports, see them in various news reports, better profiles, etc... And the transition to becoming a coach seems a natural fit.

I would think if it was bad you would stop posting on the ITP boards

I just noticed number..
. 106. Do not let Pitching Endurance go up automatically when I do NOT train it. My pitcher started with the minimum (10 or 20?), and with not training it EVER, at the age of 37, my END is 44. I know I have made pitchers in the past that have become starters (at least part time) late in their career. This is very annoying when you go for, or have, a closer.

107. Have a sane manager that only calls once when you are a pitcher being promoted/demoted. You know what I mean. This actually goes for numbers 107-199; it is THAT annoying.

108. In support of our MAC using brothers and sisters, and to keep ideas consolidated, have a MAC version of ITP.

My idea: Have an option to not have to see the PBP once you reach the majors. I like to play out the games quick so it would be nice if there was option to make the PBP like how it is in the minors.
